Default Training Missions

Hi all, new here

Anyway, after seeing all the newbies messing stuff up in PR-0.5 I had a thought;
What if you made a few small simple maps with inactive bots for single player, these would have say, for a chopper training mission, one of each type and a landscape that has obsticals and stationary targets you can shoot.. One part of the map could be woods, with a clearing for those sorts of landings, another could be a load of tanks all in different terrain for target practice ect...
Could make one for sniping, tank driving/gunning, aircraft, all sorts..
They dont need to be very detailed/good-looking or even ballanced, so it should not take too long to make them..

I think if you provided a safe area where reaspawns dont matter and there is no competition, it would definatly amke this game more noob freindly, as well as giving the regulars somewhere to practice if their ping is bad or somthing..

This is a good idea but I'm not sure if it's possible with BF2 engine.

Reminds me of that Chopper Training map for DC. Sounds good, not sure hoe that would work, though.

Well, I think it’s a good idea. In fact I had the same idea. Check it out here http://realitymod.com/forum/showthread.php?t=13316

Basically we came to the conclusion that there might be some maps made later...
As you may see in the help forum my computer still won't play PR... Argh... (any ideas!?!?!) But I hope that’s fixed soon. So if any mappers want to help that would be great, but I hope they are "officially" in the works. I also want to add something, with the inclusion of pilot and crewmen kits; wouldn’t it be a good idea to have someone need to pass a test to be eligible to get these kits? I’m not even sure if it’s possible, but "Welcome to Flight School 101" just sounds cool.

So, for example, someone like me could make the maps, but I wouldn't be able to navmesh the bots in. Would you find this acceptable enough?

Oooooooooo yes What an idee ! I always loved the games beginning with trainings so you can take in hand quietly and without stress the dozens of keys, learn on after the other all the actions you can do (the game informing you the related key you binded for), try the weapons on static/moving targets and get the results to see where to aim to know how to shoot... It's just so USEFULL !!! And I always missed that in (first) Counter Strike and then in all BF !

Is someone here already gone to a shooting tournament without having touched a gun before ? So imagine going to war...

In BF 2 I found a stunt server where you can train easy because when you take a vehicule another one appears just after. On this server the rule is "don't frag if someone tells he wants not to be" so you can cry after the opponent to stop performing attacks as organise some aerian fights or course of delicate flights.

And I love the idea of gettings tests to validate your capacity of integrating a class (medic, officer, enginner, pilot...) or role (squad leaders and commander) and allow you to use it on the servers, like it was done when I played Americas Army game at his beginning (friends and me stopped this game because of bad game spirit of the players).

I personaly think that active bots would detract from the usefullness of a training map. Half the point is that it is a 'safe' enviorment for the person to train in, so they can take their own time doing it...

I think two types of map would be usefull, a singleplayer one which would be just focusing on one type of training, (the map would be limited to one kit type, pilot, crewman, sniper and so on and focus on the basic skills) and a larger multiplayer map that would be of the same sort of make up but have two sides you can play from and have more choice in what you can do there. (for instance you could have half your clan in APCs/tanks in the forrest section of the map and the other half with AT and H-AT hunting them..)

If you can map, go ahead! I have a list of ideas on my thred and you can use these too! I think no bots is a good idea as well.
