From what I have read, the military typically does not use tracer rounds in assault rifles unless it is trying to mark something, as tracers typically give away a unit's position. We were all told after v0.4 was made that the tracer situation would improve, but it has not. I was just played v0.5 on the airport map and I was on the flank of an enermy squad. My tracer rounds gave away my position and allowed them to respond to me, which led to my unrealistic death, as they immediately turned to their left flank and shot me with a sniper round, from approximately 150 meters away.
Tracer rounds are making Project Reality unrealistic; please remove them from the assault rifles. Also, please make tracer rounds set foliage on fire in places such as Mao Valley where the USMC (and presumably the PLA) is supposed to specifically avoid causing more damage than absolutely necessary. The lack of the fire and destruction resulting from the use of tracer rounds in a wooded area is also unrealistic. |

Wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooow
Tracers should be every 5 rounds now, which is SOP for most uS units. Tracers wouldn't set anything in Mao Valley on fire. Its a jackload of lush, green, wet grass. |

I have relatives in China and I have been to China. It gets very hot over there, with temperatures of 113 degrees farenheit being typical during the summer, due to the monsoon cycle, which would make Mao Valley rather dry.

Well if its really dry, why is the grass so lush and green? How come it isn't dried up, brown, etc as you would expect from dry grass? I've been to MANY ranges were stuff has been set on fire, and not a one of them happened with a bunch of green grass on the ground.

Good question. I would like to know the answer to that myself.

Ok well it can also get to 113 in California or Arizona or Texas or a ton of places. That doesnt mean in other places like New York and Denver its not cold. Same with Britian, Russia, any country pretty much.

Closed. We had enough discussion of this after the 0.4 release, christ.
You can go find one of the old threads if you'd like. |
