Default Please get rid of tracer rounds for all classes except support

I think the gameplay has been spruced up quite well but this bothers me to no end.

The only weapons that carry tracer rounds as standard issue are light machine guns.

It makes no sense to give riflemen tracers because this only gives your position away and doesn't help you aim better or any other such thing like with the mounted mgs.

As soon as you go to shoot at someone your position is immediately tracked by the rest of the enemy just by simply following the path of the tracer rounds.

In earlier releases I can remember being able to get on the enemies flank and killing 10 men before anyone could figure out where I was but now I see lots of 1:1 KDRs because of tracer rounds on every gun. Guy opens fire and kills someone the other guys see his tracers and kill him back.

MGs use tracers to show the path of their suppressing fire for the assaulting units so that the assault squad knows to stay out of the machine guns line of fire but riflemen neither use them in real life (sometimes they'll put their last 5 rounds in the mag as tracer to know when the mag is almost empty) nor have any use for them.

what? who took away the the most useful tool of tracers from the battlefield in Real World? huh? This is a step backwards I haven't heard about surely. There goes one of the most effective ways of spotting enemies for your mates and giving effective fire on them immediately.

Surely 1 in 5 rounds is a paint tipped tracer round still?

Interesting info there Habo. The use of tracers and the reasons you explain makes good sense. I think that's a great suggestion.

Who told you that ???

All LBW's (Long Barrel Weapons) have trace rounds, to assist in acquiring targets within your section !!

It's like we're playing starwarz!

Joke - I like them, but if they were to be removed, put them in your last 5 rounds so we do know when we are low on bullets. Although the 8 clips makes up for that.

I think the tracers look like big fat starwars laser beams. Have you seen the tracers in the latest version of POE? They look very well done, check them out.

Yes, tracers give away your position. But they also point out what you're shooting at. If you've got a good VOIP squad you can have a general "fire on my tracers" order that brings all hell down on a selected area.

Also the red/green tracer scheme is absolutely realistic.

I love the tracers in 0.4. Add another dimension to the game.

But I must admit, that seeing the tracers on the blackhawk does look like it's firing a laser beam at the ground. Perhaps the tracer bullets need to be reduced in frequency.

Please give tracers only to Squad Leaders, they are the ones to give the order "fire on my tracers" !

Or give tracers to snipers, they'll like it
