faster firing weapons have less tracers in their feed normally.

tracers in rifles should only really ignite after about 75m when the high friction temperature of the rounds passing ignites the painted tip.

Beware in dry brush areas when firing tracers as you end up having to call half the camp out to beat out the brush fire afterwards

Also the red/green tracer scheme is absolutely realistic.
How about adding ammunition options like for shotguns? Give all players 2 tracer mags or something. I know real soldiers wouldn't use those laser beams all the time, they give your position away if you're trying to be stealthy (such as Spec Ops anybody?).

Tracers are fine, acually I LOVE 'EM!
Only thing missing now is bullets randomly richocheting from the ground, which looks REALLY cool when you use tracers

Tracers are great - from what I read they are realistic too. However, I think I capture the mood of the community when I say - make them less bright/more transparent as right now it looks far to star wars like

I like the tracers, but I think they're way too frequent for the weapons... one tracer every three rounds? I'd prefer five.

except you can do the same without making so much as a sound from your weapon just by spotting them from the comm rose or putting an attack order over them.

I honestly don't know every single thing about how infantry combat works but I seriously have to disagree with you, I've seen just about every coalition video you can get from Iraq and Afghanistan and haven't seen anyone firing tracer rounds from their assault rifle in a firefight yet.

Actually the way they are now in game is as close to how they look in real life, red orchestra has the big fat laser beam tracers.
