We also use an Autodesk product by the name of 3D Studio (3DS) Max. You can get a 30-day trial at Autodesk - Design Innovation

Be warned, Inventor is VERY different from 3Ds Max, as all CAD is very different from game modeling. It took me over 2 years to get my head around the differences in the way you have to crate objects, just the way you go about it is soo diffrent.

I use Strata 3D CX5.5 because its fully compatible with Photoshop CS3 Extended and can import/export 3DS Max.

Do/can you 3DS using chaps usually save as *.s3d ??
