names should not be on the map due to the CPs on the map will have names on them ingame anyways, + the names you have used are incorrect anyways.
save the minimap as DXT1 with no mipmaps for best reasults, and best to have them at 1024x1024 but you can get away with 2048x2048 but its really best to only have them on scale 4 maps. |

Of course the names were incorrect, they were made up.
Will do on the .dds settings. Thanks. Do you have any suggestions for feature names on OGT to improve team communication? |

sorry didnt make it clear enough. remove the CP names from the map as the names attached to the CPs on the HUD are more than enough, having 2 sets of names for the same flags, or having the same name 2x is pointless and will only bring confusion.

I completed the map for Al Basrah. Took longer than anticipated because I restarted at a higher resolution part way in, I had to remake the map for detail using Rhino's minimap guide and Al Basrah has a lot of buildings, walls and other details.

You can get the completed files for Al Basrah and OGT as well as installation instructions Here I have not been kicked by punkbuster after playing a few rounds in Al Basrah so I'm pretty sure it is OK. Report back if you experience problems. (Only client.zip changes so this never causes problems right?) |

to DEV`s : but I prefer both maps origin and topo, maybe some swith between them ? About changed content: No worryes untill PsB config used with client zip MD5 cheks And if those topomaps will included officily then no worryes at all |

I still say they need more details/symbols/features. Theyre VERY VERY VERY close but they dont have that real map feel yet.
http://www.realitymod.com/forum/show...7&postcount=59 See what I mean? place names etc with cluttering the map, if symbols are copied from genuine maps then you'll find they just blend into the map. Contours are useful to track around hills but a map isnt any good if you cant say that your "50m east of the well at a hieght of 75m" or that "theres a large gathering of insurgents in the Al-Zubair District" things like that. otherwise the map is pretty much the same as it is, everything just becomes "errrrm Im next to the yellow squiddly bit opposite the oblong black thing..." School buildings, Hotels, Bus stops, Phone Boxes, post offices, rivers, fjords, streams, springs, reeds, bogs, marshs, wells, statues, monuments, factories... Do I need to go on? ALL of the above can be found symbolized on real maps, we know they probably didnt model an exact school building in basrah, Have a look around and choose one things like the several construction sites wouldnt be mapped yet Edit: just looked and seen there are district names :P maybe a lil bigger with double spacings between the letters? :P I know I'm nitpicking but I can't use the tools myself :P Have been trying for ages |
