Intel E6750 2.66Ghz, 4Gb of PC6400 RAM, 7900GTX and 8MB/s ADSL, running everything on full. Load time was equivilant to Kashan on normal, or OGT/EJOD.

I'm not sure it's a network related thing- it seemed to load fine. I may reinstall BF2 and PR anyways (I've been getting the VOIP bug) so I may try a fresh install of everything, see if that works.

Yeah, loaded the map up here and it's fine.

I say fine, the 4km view distance plays hell with my graphics card- I get a fine FPS, but the damn thing overheats with the strain and I get massive clipping errors. Could probably be solved by toning down the graphics settings, but I'd rather not.

The jets handle fine, although the massive view distance means you can see right to the edge of the map and beyond even from the centre of the map, so you get that hideous "no fly zone" division really clearly. It also makes it damn difficult to work out what's what on the map, because you can see *everything* lol.

I'd suggest that the 4km view distance makes it impossible to play for anyone on a low-spec rig, and that a 2km distance wouldn't be too bad a compromise. All the jets handled very nicely- especially the A-10, felt much more like I imagine that it should. Didn't get to see how the AA stuff works, as I was playing it locally so didn't have anyone to shoot.

I'm willing to try setting it up over a Hamachi virtual LAN if someone wants to see how it goes.

I'm also a bit worried that in such a small space with such massive view distances, it'll take ALL the skill out of flying - as you'll be quite able to see who's taking off via radar the second they lift up and hit them immediately. Once a team has established airpower, that'll be it for the other side (even more so than currently).

well, some people with low spec computers have been playing, they say they get fine fps but have to turn the settings down. but i think that at 2500m view distance would be fine too. also aa will be better, increased range and missiles that hit, it would make the planes stay up higher and only come down if the area is clear. why over virtual lan, you can connect right to a lan game.

Yeah my problem isn't that the card can't handle the processing - my FPS drops to 50-odd at worst - but that the 7900GTX gets cranky and shitty after a year or so and starts to play silly buggers, especially when it gets warm. Massive texture splitting and clipping errors - nasty rents all over the screen.

When are you thinking of? If I get it downloaded and working, I would be happy to try it out. Flying is what I like best....

i think a big issue with aircraft on kashan is that people
1. dont know how to taxi
2. don't have to taxi anyway.

they just take off right out of the hanger.

and they should taxi.
