The main benefit of having a subforum here in realitymod instead of anywhere else is the iteraction with other factions, the devs and community in general, which increases the chance of sharing resources and avoiding duplicate work since many weapons, vehicles, statics and other stuff can be reused or adapted between different factions. Besides, it gives an "official" status to the work of the comfac developers, which may help atract more helping hands to the project.
I can see why devs are focusing on OPFOR, but in many cases developing new factions includes creating both sides, as is happening in the recently proposed brazilian armed forces (which I have helped a little here and there in the begining), and which aims to create also the OPFOR in the form of the colombian revolutionary armed forces (FARC). This is not usually the case for the factions involved in the middle east which are all fighting against already existing OPFOR factions in PR like insurgents, MEC, Taliban or Hamas in the future. |
