[Map] Wuzhai [WIP]
Im working on a map at the moment so I thought Id start a thread to chart its progress and get some feedback.
Background : Wuzhai Missle and Space Testing Centre is actually over 100kms from Wuzhai and in China is called Taiyuan Missle and Space Testing Centre, even so its over 100km from there as well. Setting : The map will resemble moorland and be very barren, hilly and rocky with varied low level vegetation but few trees. One side of the map will drop down to kind of a plain and Im hoping to have some kind of low mist on this to add to a moody atmosphere. It will be set at dawn and the sky will be quite dark. The map below shows the outline. The red areas will be too steep to get to and the plain is down the right side. Flags names are just general ideas at this stage. [IMG] [/IMG]Map details : The map will only have transport/light helis, light vehicles and possibly apcs. Cover will be provided mainly by terrain. Lots of enviromental sounds Large industrial military complex feel to it. ( this will be confined to small areas within a large perimeter as its a 4km map ) Development plan : Terrain and Vegetation Roads Flag placement and Main bases Vital static placement and model missiles Whatever else I can fit in Lighting and sounds Heres some early screenshots. Theres no vegetation yet and I need to sort the lighting out. your base colour is looking really, really flat... I thought when i saw it it was first a desert map cos it was soo yellow and flat... if it was you might just be able to get away with it, but its not

Yeah I know. Any ideas why theres kind of a mist effect? ( Best sen on the "plain" picture. It came out nicer ( darker ) on a different light render so Im still playing about with it. Sky con was just lifted wholesale from another map ( one of yours I think )

yeah its something to do with that - if i change layer 3 ( which is the "misty" colour ) to lowdetail level 1 then it goes. Looks like Ill have to rethink my layer distribution and pretty much have no layer 3 coverage - great stuff - sure it wont take me long
lol - if I end up with a low view distance then maybe I would put them in. Also depends how it plays. PR is at its best when its infantry focussed, and atm all the big maps are armour and a/c focussed. Im hoping to do something slightly different. |

Colour problem is sorted now. I knew the base colours were right and thought the washed out look was due to lighting in bf2editor. It was actually the default gamma correction in terragen that was causing the problem. I still have to sort the layer distribution though
