Had a rage moment today when I tried to bandage myself while under fire. I was hiding behind a low wall and ended up dying while applying a field dressing to myself. In real life, I'd assume I'd be able to bandage a wound while lying on the ground, especially if standing up meant being caught in a hail of bullets. I should be able to in ArmA also.

I will agree fully with this. It would however require a new animation in order to be implemented. Perhaps something with the soldier rolling on to his back and making a wrapping motion around his left or right arm to simulate the application of a bandage/tourniquet.
First aid renders someone far too vulnerable and it's unrealistic that you wouldn't drop what you're doing if confronted by a danger-close enemy in plain sight. That wound can wait unless you want 16 more. |

Happened to me more than couple times and i always thought of it as the desync and server registering it late that i should be actually on the ground..Well IMO that would at least explain why some dudes are still able to shoot me back after i headshot em | |

Yep, but IG, there's several kind of wounds.
When you're slightly wounded, you're able to stabilize the wound by yourself. If it's more severe, you're just knocked down, you roll and the only thing that you can do is calling for a medic. So, I think that, when you're able to treat yourself, you should be able to do it when you're crouched. |

Cant speak for other branches but Marines are trained to keep a low profile when providing first aid.

Tis a very good suggestion but if you want to create the animation please feel free...
