Arrow [Technical Help] Sound

Hi,

I've just reinstalled ArmA 2 and I'd completely forgotten about this issue when I had it installed before.

I use studio headphones for gaming, I use them for work I do as a Sound tech, they're uber comfy and cost about 5 times more than the plastic p.o.s that the gaming world seem to love and use. Clarity, tonality, frequency range, all the specs outclass consumer products.

HOWEVER.
They're stereo, one L, on R.
When I play ArmA, I get this weird dead-spot with audio. Anything directly in front of me or behind me I can hardly hear and have to turn to the side to hear it clearly.
I'm not a dumb-ass and realise that this is (probably) to do with the game being in surround.

I can't seem to find any sound settings which I can change to tell the game that I'm using a stereo setup and not 5.1 or 7.1 (whichever the game may be in)

Has anyone got a solution to this or know how to tell the game to run in stereo?
No smart-ass comments like "Buy another headset" please.

Any help much appreciated.

Burton

Buy another headset.

Now seriously
ARMA 2 uses Windows' sounds settings. Are you sure these are set up correctly?

Would depend on OS,and the way the front sound panel is setup (AC97 or HDaudio)

Win7 has a wizard for the speaker setup - should be under volume control, playback devices:
select stereo and uncheck full range speakers.

It does sound like your PC is outputting a 5.1 signal, and not stereo (the sound )gap in the center)

exactly, you will have to find an option in windows where you can change from 5.1 or what ever to "Stereo" or "Headphones"

Post the os or google it your self. Its somewhere in advanced audio settings a drop-down list.
