How to play with beta patches?

Says it in title.

Any way to play with beta patches? When I start the game up "normally" with just PR loaded as an addon it gives me an error, launch the game with praa.exe, which does NOT load the beta apparently.

Thread is a little out of date - pending update. However info re. starting with a beta is correct.
