Only 15 FPS on i7,8GB RAM, 2GB GFX?

Hey guys, im getting a really low FPS on default graphics settings.....15 FPS with the following rig:

XPS L502x

Graphics : 2GB NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M Graphics card
750 GB SATA Hard Drive (7200RPM)
Processor: Intel Core i7-2670QM (2.20 GHz with Turbo Boost up to 3.10 GHz)
8 GB Dual Channel DDR3 SDRAM at 1333MHz (2 DIMMs)
15.6 in HD WLED TL (1366x76

Please post your ingame graphic settings. Depending on the graphic details that can actually be true.
Afaik "default" gets choosen depending on your system, wouldn't rely on that.

The 540M isn't bad but its a mobile chipset and Arma2 on full details can be a problem for that card.

Also I'm not sure if your system features Nvidias Optimus. Make sure all drivers are properly installed and the graphiccard gets switched correctly.

Im running ARMA2 on those settings, somewhat similar and I get ~30fps.

Difference is that Im runing it on desktop PC but with drastically lower specs.

I have AMD II x2 250, 4gb DDR2 800 RAM, GTS450-512MB, and I use this switch in my shortcut.

"D:\Program Files\Bohemia Interactive\ARMA2\arma2OA.exe" -nosplash -cpucount=2 -exThreads=1

This will limit ARMA2 to 2 CPU cores, it will skip intro screens, and I forgot what last one will do, but It does make a difference.

Now this is switch for dual core cpu and your is a quad. Try it with this, and I will look into bistudio forums once they are online again, and will give you optimal settings for quad processors, and will look into recommended settings for notebooks.

you updated all the graphics right?

also are you playing with the laptop plugged in?

often when the laptop is not plugged in it will throttle down the gpu and the cpu to conserve power

check your settings and make sure the comp isnt on power saver mode

yep all plugged in, upgraded the gpu drivers. opend the game using the 540M Graphics card and put the intel gpu on "Performance" in the power setting in control panel....but can see any setting there for the 540M Graphics card?

sorry to tell you but since the desktop dude with similar gfx card got almost twice the fps as you with 30 fps, and knowing that mobile cards usualy are 50% slower then their desktop counterpart, its fair to assume you can run at 15-20 fps max as its the videocard that just cant handle much more and is running at maximum capacity already. Try lower lighting and shadows to lowest possible. Those should help a little but dont expect any fancy gfx with that mobile card

also try lowering AA


try closing all the programs before you play that should yield a little better results

I am not a fan of "performance boosters"

but try this one and see if it helps might increase the fps a little

dont expect miracles tho
