I like the "long" rounds in BF2:PR, about 1:30/2 hours, but in PR:ARMA I have seen rounds of 3/4 hours or even more in full servers. This IMO make the game boring many times and forces a lot of people to leave in the middle of the round, something I would say doesnt help to improve teamwork.

I am inclined to agree the default round length is far too long. 4 hours standard on the same mission gets really really tedious especially when all the squad leaders go for lunch/dinner halfway through leaving the team that was winning to suddenly start losing all initiative.
It would be ideal if ticket gain/loss were tweaked, particularly for A&D maps where the defender should almost certainly have more tickets than the attacking force or the bleed from certain points should be increased. A&D rounds typically last the full 4 hour duration ending in a narrow victory by the attacker even though they failed to secure all the necessary CP's. A&D should only be winnable if the attacking force manages a 'full cap'. I mean isn't that the point of the game mode? I love the concept of A&D but it's pretty tiresome as a squad leader to have to lead and maintain organization and cohesion for four hours at a time just to get a 'win'. Default time should probably be adjusted to 120 minutes imho so we can play more of these great missions rather than the same mission for an interminable period of time. |

I agree rounds are too long, that said the current maps are quite difficult to move around (mountains are killing us) so if you were to shorten the game time you might have rounds ending too early as it takes a lot of time to capture objectives/destroy caches.
I think better maps with PR's gameplay in mind can address this issue. |

Are the rounds too short? I guess that's for the individual servers to change?

I actually want to say that while rounds are currently too long and that Bleed should certainly be tweaked (or Ticket total), a good team with sound leadership AND strategy will win any map quickly and decisively. The problem is that 80% of 'squad leaders' make no attempt at coordination between the rest of the squads. The introduction of the Commander Role will definately change the dynamic in my opinion.
Currently the longest rounds happen when you have three sqauds on each team doing their own thing floundering about nothing and flailing and failing. But seriously people we need you to foster great leaders. Ones with a knack for strategy and organization as much as an ability to enable its memebers to have fun. Attack and Defend along with Insurgency, though, need an artifical endgame timer to level the playing field for the Defenders who have NO OTHER win criteria. |

To be honest there are much bigger gameplay issues than this, but I agree rounds are way too long right now, which is just another contributor to the "1/2 the team AFK at base" scenario that happens way too often (though this has many other contributing factors as well).

Not sure about the other gamemodes, but yesterday, in an A&D mission, when after what seemed like a couple of hours of play, I checked the score menu and was indeed surprised that we still had two more hours to go. At that point (it was rather late already) I decided to quit, when usually I see games through till the end. So for A&D, yes, I agree 4 hours is a bit much.

I agree with the current gameplay its too long but in the furture id like to see open ended rounds that may last days so we get a transition from day to night rain and shine. This idea would only be good if we had a decent amount of players playing around the clock, comming in join a squad they are familiar with getting a certain job done then maybe going back to base and leaving to sleep, eat and what ever (life). sort of like a real life rotation of infantry, but i think this idea needs a fairly big player base and better pings across the world wich has nothing to do with reality mod. Maybe in the future we will see this with just one server with 500 player limit Xd but hey im dreaming.

P3ar|y that most likely would not work very well in practice, especially considering what often happens on warfare servers.
