Default weapon models

just out of curiosity, the weapons you guys showed in the trailer. are those taken from preexisting ARMA weapon models, borrowed from other mods, or newly made just for ARMA2:PR, or possibly the same ones we are currently using in BF2:PR?

they looked about the same to me when it showed just the models but they looked entirely different when shown in the ingame shots

Anything can be a weapon, anyone can be a threat. Never under estimate the combat ability of your opposition. He may seem weak and harmless now but even a dead man can carry a few pounds of explosives in his gut or deliver a decisive blow by rotting away in your water supply.

They are probably from BF2:PR, seeing as the DEVs are trying to using work done by BF2:PR DEVs, as it will save time.

EDIT: ArmA II's lighting is weird, that might have changed the way you seen it.

The base L85 models are based off the BF2 models, with the RIS and ACOG additions by the ARMA2 team (due to recent in-theatre modernisation). The other weapons are directly from the BF2 models. This info is purely from memory. I reserve the right to be utterly wrong :P

Yeah thats pretty much the case, there is the odd weapon that for now is a placeholder from BIS (such as the L7 GPMG). The Modernised SA80's were done by me (the moder bit anyway). The actual body of the ACOG is from ARMA1 but the RIS and ACOG mount are brand new.

You may be getting confused between the L85A2 'stock' and the L85A2 with modifications (as Gaz said).

I too believe that some of them are taken straight from BF2 models. From what I've seen (on pictures mostly) the models that the modeleres make are of very high quality and has alot more polys than BF2 can handle. So I guess that the R-DEV team will take some models from PR that are originaly made with high quality (for instance, take the Mi8 that they released pictures of a month ago or so) and put them into ArmA2. They will probably do the same thing with PR2, but then it may be even better quality models than what PR:ArmA2 can handle.

BUT! It still seems like some of these weapons are new and hasn't been released for PR:BF2 yet.

I dont care, its epic, its shiny, i get to shoot people with it Give me MORE!

And seriously, if we can "recycle" things from PR, this gives us A SERIOUS pro in terms of the speed modding takes. in my oppinion though.

Talking about modernized L85's... I remember reading somewhere, sometime ago, something about a L85 overhaul to come someday (for BF2;PR)
