isn't that how it is in insurgency? That just means that the team with the most skillz gets the better guns. plus, if you saved stats, then maybe they might be able to figure out a way to balance it by ranks that way you had an even number of major, or private, or what have you.

But that would mean folks would want to stick to one server all the time to build up their ranks and such.

You can't hardcode players, so ranks just get in the way of the good guys more than the idiots.

in answer to the question about map sizes, I think (from what I saw on an ArmAholic map link of some Afgan map that has been made) it will be like 100km by 100km, but i think the AO is going to be a lot smaller and focused around certain areas(?) Think Fallujah, but a larger cityscape and then instead of a map border having the map carry on for quite a while :P (though I may be completely wrong with this assumption XD)

They can make as many missions as they want in one map, so it is actually better to have a large one and then missions can be made to use every part of it.

Hell if they add in MEC you could make a mission where it is the Brits holding off an MEC advance to invade or something.

if that is true, that will be the biggest map i have ever heard of on arma. im keeping my fingers crossed. Im concerned about performance on a map that size.

I dont see a problem with adding ranks. That's how it is in real life so if you want "Realism" add some ranks. Wouldn't be all that bad.

I found this sentence quite funny and since this is a war game forum I will put it here. No offense to the french just a good laugh.

I think ranking ruins the game - please don't add ranking/leveling like on Bad Company 2!

We didn't say like bad company. That sort of ranking is for weapons and crap which is repetitively stupid.
