Actually with the alpha and beta releases I'd say there will be alot of mods available by the time it's released.

I think so aswell. But i dont think ACE 3 and Arma2:PR will be available at day 1 cause it requires just to many changes and research to get it fully compatible.
But i hope i will be wrong, and the porting of these mods will be a more easy task than before.

If ACE or PR dont move over quickly you will find they will be left, it happened with Arma when Arma 2 came out and it will happen again, the reason being that Arma 2 is Arma with an update, and same again with Arma 2 to Arma 3.

Also with the new Arma 3 coming out there will be a lot of renewed interest so its up to PR to grab a hold of that when it does happen, if not and they say release into the second year of Arma 3 there will be no chance of capturing that burst of initial market.

Some more news on Arma III

Behind the Scenes!
Ahead of a forthcoming developer's blog, here's a peek at the kind of behind-the-scenes photos we're all set to share!

In the post, Ivan Buchta describes a field trip to Hungary, where some of the team were able to get to grips with a certain beast:

"the worst thing that could happen is that you miss the berm and the bullet would continue to a nearby village, or you displace your shoulder and the optics would tear into your forehead" ... the instructor 'joked'!

"Why do they even try to invade, why do they try to conquer? Why do they risk everything for such a small dominance? My thoughts exactly...

I have got a decent rig, and arma 2 on maxed settings... 24 - 10 fps...
So unless you have a ?ber rig my guess is, dream on...

I am not ready to spend that kind of money just to run a single game"playable..."

But othervise, i love it!

The whole thimg is that arma is not a single game. Its like lego you can make and build everything,

"Why do they even try to invade, why do they try to conquer? Why do they risk everything for such a small dominance? Arma is basically the only game I play and one of my favourite things to do.

So, my last 2 PCs were custom-built for it and I try to save as much as I can towards that end.

I'd rather have a sufficient PC than a car, and that was one of the several reasons I got rid of my wheels a year or two back.

I figure I might play Arma maybe 23 hours a week and that, for me, it's basically my hobby. Some people spend thousands on photography, gardening, sailing. My hobby is to warfight in an immersive and realistic environment with hundreds of virtual warriors from across the planet. Thats how I justify it.

But that's just me - your mileage may vary Everyone values different things and lots of people are doing it tough, trying to pay a mortgage, pay the bills, support their kids, put food on the table, and I know it can be impossible for them to make these sorts of investments in machines. Minimising the graphics options is often a do-able workaround.

Cheers,
Swedge
