So, I bought ARMA 2 a long long while ago (when they released Combined Operations pack or whatever they called it that had ARMA 2 with Operation Arrowhead)
It's been sitting on my steam list for a while now, i installed it before when i had 3 gigs of ram and crap and it ran.. well.. like crap. Recently i got a new hard drive and borrowed some ram from a roommate (he doesn't need it for now.. > > ) and decided to retry it. ^_^ I enjoy it once you get the video settings balanced between looking epic and playing decently.. XD 30 fps for me is good enough.... (though i have to turn them down during anything with a lot of smoke and fire... So, I saw that there were two "MUST HAVE" mods called ACRE and ACE. o_o My brain is fried from learning the obscene (but very nice when it comes to specific) amount of keybindings, and now i'm yearning for stuff that fixes the various things i find very.. very wrong with the game. > > What exactly do i need to have the ultimate ARMA 2 experience? I know about ACE and ACRE... (both of which i really have NO clue what they do other than i k now that ACE adds more realistic things to it like backblast and fun stuff like rotor-decapitation... > >) Is there anything else? Specifically anything that changes the horrid reload animations.... ? o_O (Im still waiting for PR:ARMA2.. but i figured might as well play it and get used to it... ._.) Help would be appreciated! |

Lot of talk about ACRE here, when I read this thread I thought - jesus I'll wait for PR ARMA it appears I don't have the computer skills to deal with all the add ons for ARMA.

Well Arma is very confusing at start. You might find some more help on the PR:ArmA2 section of the forum PR:ArmA2 General Discussion - Project Reality Forums
This is the PR:BF2 section, for BF2. As for ACE and ACRE, look at this thread http://www.realitymod.com/forum/f11-...rma-2-mod.html it's very helpfull. |

ARMA 2 Plays like a simulator better than a game.
It doesn't take long to get used to the keys. The only keys you really need are your movement (WASD), your mouse keys (fire LMB, Aim down sight, etc), how to jump over small fences, and your interaction keys with ACE and ACRE. All the other buttons come with practice. |

Browse Armaholic web site for addons / mods etc.. there are millions of them. There is no way to say what you want or should have. Its a matter of choice & taste.
Arma's addons / mod world is very daunting.. there is such an array. I've been playing Arma1/2 for several years and still find it so. |

Maybe you find these links handy also:
Howto/Tips and tricks Squad Commands: [GUIDE] AI Squad Command - Bohemia Interactive Forums Arma2 Launcher that works perfectly with STEAM: ArmA 2 Game Launcher - Bohemia Interactive Forums How to use the launcher: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k3dsH5xA16w howto install Mods (if you run steam and have 2 separate installs of ARMA2 and OA put the mod folders in OA install folder instead of ARMA2) : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Lel1b0lM0E Ir requires some research and you will do things wrong at the beginning. But when familiarised with it everything will be a piece of cake. Unless you want to go script your own missions Edit: Just came out this week. The new six Updater. I don't know how it works cause i didn't try it yet. But it doesn't look to complicated: http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=13213 |

If you are looking for a good community to play with that has over 30 players a night playing and use acre check out United Operations Gaming Community
They have a guide on how to get started with ace and acre which helped me get started awhile back |

I found this guide really good. Helped me get a really good balance between graphics and frame rate. My kill count doubled in game after I did most of these tweeks.
