Seems really cool. I allways wanted a trackir but thought it was too expensive. I'm gonna try this. Just hope my old ass webcam is up for the task.

Uh... I think you're using it wrong.

But seriously, I, too, have never really felt like TrackIR was "worth it." I don't doubt that it is a great tool, but I just don't spend enough time gaming to be able to justify that kind of money. This looks like a good option!

It really is. Granted you dont get some of the extra features and what not, but the basic principle is still the same. I would recommend it to anyone that wants to try it. The free versions are still really good and offer the same "ZOMG" factor that an actual TrackIR would.

Freetrack, still requires you to remove the ir filter, and also set up a "cap" with LED's on it etc.

factracknoir, requires nothing more than a half decent webcam (and a few hours getting the settings right)

If you have freetrack set in ArmA2 ...... you simple run it, minimise it and then boot up ArmA2 .... simple.

I have just ordered a Logitech C500 Webcam, so will see if I can tweak it more with a new cam (old one was 15fps max )

Can you use a wii remote like freetrack as these work really well, and are better than most web cams?

Nope, FacetrackNoIR works by analyzing the image from the web cam, scanning for your face (or rather eyes, nose and possibly mouth if I got it right) and the based of from that calculates your heads position in 6 DoF.

A Wiimote is an ir ONLY camera (besides the other stuff) and therefore only sees light in the infrared spectrum. Therefor it is not capable of seeing your face and therefore not capable to track it. (facetrack NoIR )

I've never used TrackIR or FreeTrack and haven't spent that much time with Facetracknoir, but with what I've seen so far using a Logitech 9000 webcam, I'm impressed. It might be obvious, but make sure you apply the update which isn't included in the main download. Without it I was getting very choppy movement and I didn't register more than 15hz for FPS. Everything ran smoothly after the update.
