This stuff could only benefit to team play especially for new players who easy break out from formation and in the same time didn’t give some advantage for exploiting it in game play so it is completely secure from cheating.

ArmA have Much more density and bigger terrain and you can lost from your group much more easier than in BF2 and also keeping formation is much more important than it is in BF2.

Maybe it is not realistic but it is steel the game and sometime some small not realistic thing increasing realism somewhere else and in the end could benefit for more realism in general.

Great job Dslyecxi and others from shack. It is definitely must have tool for me.

I think if Pr:A2 was supposed to have any HUD it would be just that ShackTac one. No green stuff ontop even in vehicles.

The internet makes you stupid.

relating to my earlier post, i really don't see what the argument is. It says that it can be implemented with any mod, and manually configured to any map, so if you like it, great then use it, if not, then don't download it. As far as pr implementing a hud within the game itself, i think that they should leave it alone, and if people want this they can get it themselves.

Only if he is skilled & experienced enough. These are personal features and not everyone has them. If the situation gets hairy enough, even the most skilled soldier can get lost. An automatic map that show player's team mates direction, distance and bearing all the time and in every imaginable situation belongs to arcade games. In PR, squad members nametags and direction ("3D HUD") appear only when they are nearby, otherwise you have to open the map, which doesn't show your bearing at all, and try to figure out where you are and where you have to start moving to in order to locate your squad.

The main problem with all these HUD's, including that in PR, is that they can't differentiate buildings, caves and other closed spaces from open areas. Thus they will show other player's position no matter where they are. In a open field or relatively sparse forest this is ok, but when being inside a cave or large building no one would know where his mates are unless they are in the same room. So there should be a way to turn all HUDs off when player enters buildings or is somehow else unable to see his team mates, like when operating at night.

Team members listed on the hud disappear outside of the maxium radius (currently 45m). Should you be the only person of your fireteam within that radius, it will essentially be clear, only showing yourself.

Which makes all this moot really since Arma2 PR wants to be stand alone without other mods being required.

yes. required. not compatable. im sure compatablitiy with ace wont be there, but this hud will probably be compatable, just not required. So what i said earlier still stands.

Ok, thanks for the clarification.

My other point still stands, though.

I think this is pretty handy.. I think i can call myself a pretty good ARMA/2 player. But even i have diffeculty's keeping up with squad members in ARMA. Sometimes you are in a dens forrest or build up area with your team to lose them in 2 sec when you look the other way. Alot of times i was like "Where the hell did my team mates go. They where here a second ago" haha. Maybe its just me... But even in Falcon 4 i had more situational awareness than in ARMA. I tought in real life it would be the other way around. Or am i wrong with that?

Depends on how many hours you have flown with F-16 in real life combats
