i have tried the Arma 2 demo. i dont know how to communicate in ARMA. How do i use my microphone?

And will there be players vs players?

Or Players incharge of AI VS players incharge of AI?

Cause squadleading frikkin ai is annoying as anything.

PR BF2 is alot more accesible and drop into action, etc.

More easy to understand, i hope They will make ARMA PR, very simple in terms of comms, and everything else, being able to understand whats going on etc

I hope they dont. ArmA is a complicated game but its not rocket science to understand it.

if its customizable.

IE, if you have something forced, then you can just "change" it as you go along ingame?

Like in BF2, you have squads, and the commander, those comms are inbf2.

Then its all SLs communicate on mumble, then its mumble for everyone.

Mother of god. Wicca in arma 2? Is no where sacred?

Wicca arma is a pretty all inclusive package.

There really is no need for an outside voip program like ts, but players like to have what is fermilar to them.
The game uses a push button mic system. You swap through the diffrent com channels by taping short cuts. There is a visual indicator of what channel you are in. If some one starts to talk to you their name will show up in a color that corisponds to what channel they are in. Orrange for example is vehical, green is squad, side is a lightish blue, global is gray, as is directional I think. Etc etc

heh.

I think actually the Devs themself was born for a reason now:P

But joking aside, i belive and hope a simple system would be nice for Arma2.

Id love having one SL channel for all SLs, including the commander, and then having the commander be in contact with air etc.

Then let everyone talk to eachother on squad level via Radio and when your next to them.

COMMAND RADIO (SL, CO)
CAS RADIO (CO, FAC)
SPECIFIC CHANNEL(All Sls have their own channel, fac and other SLs can join if they want to talk specificaly to that SL, which also the infantry in that squad can hear.)

All talk, everyone can hear.

Is that the way its pulled off?

And will there be like a list of units etc?

So they can f.ex. have a commander must be there for the team to exists. or smt.
Then if he resigns the 2ic becomes promoted or smt.

Rank system kinda.

But if you could connect the rank system with the role system and voip system, that would be nice.

IE:

SL=a specifc rank.
FTL= A specific rank.
CO=A specific Rank.

etc?

If you ahve been reading my post you can see that there is a way to do that realisticly by using mobile radio's and command vehicels ingame and you can configure all kind off frequences in those radio's and JAM enemy signals and even the terrain would play a role in receiving a signal or not. It can be coded into the game.. but for now it will require TS3 what some people won't like.. But the peolpe that don't like it don't realise that you can simply go around that by just using you'r own communication program even if its coded in the game.

if you mean post then no, i havent read your post in this thread, but if you meant your thread, then yes i will read it, since i havent.

And the fact that terrain is capabel of blocking radio signals is quite cool.

ah, i understand, well this thread the one your reading now, is more a way for me to try to understand what is actually possible within the arma2 engine, what your talking about is having a 3rd party software to enhance the realistic part of Arma2, well thats a dev decision, and fits in the suggestion forum, not General discussion imo.
