well yeah, i played arma2...
maybe i should have been clearer... though we are in the PR arma 2 forums... but those questions im asking, applies to the PR mod of arma 2... not arma 2 itself I know it can be done, just asking what they plan on doing in their mod. |

A mod is handled very differently in ArmA 2 than in BF2. ArmA 2 handles mods like content packs, which can modify gameplay, however some things are hard coded in the engine. As for day/night, you can script a MISSION to be only on that individual time, however that is up to the mission maker, not the PR team. For player limit, it will be no different than ArmA 2 because it will not change the server, only change the content in the server. Map sizes depend on the Island size, missions are made on an island, and as such, a mission (which is the equivelent of a BF2 map, except it does not have the terrain, only the actual mission) will normally range from a few kb to at most a few megs, and it is hard to get it over a few K unless you add a lot of stuff in the mission based on scripts, which is a completely different story than the way BF2 handles it. | ||

You can actually add goats in the mission editor of the base game (and even play as them). I'm not kidding.
As for Afganistan, remember this is only the terrain that is being added, missions will be built on top of that terrain, which will be separate files. An average island will be around 100 or more megabytes. A mission file will be on average a few kb to a meg or two. The mission file is separate from the terrain, and while it requires the terrain to load, it is not put on the island file itself, and is completely modular. This is a mission file, note the size. This goes in your mpmissions folder. DIH African Warfare (@) - Armaholic.com This is the island the mission depends on. Note the size, this goes as it's own addon folder. Isla Duala - Armaholic.com The mission will be separate from the actual island. You actually download the mission on connection to a server that is running it if you don't already have the mission. You do NOT download the mod on connection, you have to already have the required mods and be running them as you connect. The mission is what you are playing, the island is the terrain the mission takes place on. |
