I'm having a great time with the mod so far.

I was just in a small firefight of 8 vs 8 (AAS mode) where about 1000 rounds of ammunition were fired (300 from my MG) over about 7 minutes (felt like 30). Two people on my side were killed with one wounded badly enough that I had to pick up and carry off the battlefield under fire. We got about four of the other team.

We were all communicating, tracers were whizzing over everyone's heads and the entire fight was extremely intense. I could kill 300 people in BF3 at close quarters while never feeling that same adrenaline rush. This is why I love realism and teamwork!

PR: Arma2 is shaping up nicely!

It's also nice to see a near empty server being as enjoyable as a full server.

Time to delete BF3 and it's ilk from my hard drive...

Tee hee hee, you should all know by now that to mention ACRE is blasphemy.
There are times when I think VON doesn't give a clear representation of peoples voice, however this could be an issue dependent on the quality of microphone, and certainly in some cases, peoples mic position to their mouth. I think SLs should do mic checks before leaving base to insure they can hear everyone and understand them.

Must echo everyone else, so far everything has been fantastic. Loving the Chenarus maps as myself and a couple of guys had a blast this morning on Gorka (?) fighting between the Water Tower and Petrol Station.

I am really looking forward to something establishing an "official" commander position. I can imagine a well commanded team attacking from the carrier on Portside would be nuts -- save the other squads and players are willing to cooperate.

No we don't. Special forces is not what PR's about.

Conventional Russian forces would be cool though.

A Russia vs USMC scenario on Chernarus in PR would be the ULTIMATE!!

Seems odd having Takis in Chernarus.

I can only imagine this will be coming soon, but yes, we need Spetnaz troops and other ArmA II Opfor units, when the time is right please.
I'd rather that BIS left an option to disable the VON completely so it could be more like a radio or more focused on direct chat.

Maybe when/if the PR team decides to add their own communication system to the game (Mumble?), they can just disable the VON keys by default and servers could punish anyone who tried to use them. Servers could also kick/warn people that weren't on Mumble.

I haven't tried the new beta yet but there are Takis in Chernarus? Project Reality is really deserving its name... Not enough manpower to include the basic features from vanilla Arma?

I tried ACE yesterday again. It has some nice features. More realistic weapons and sounds and it has more russian stuff like desert camos which can be used for some americans vs. russians in the desert missions. I also liked the medic system. Maybe the devs will think realistic and be open someday and will start to work with other modders? For example ACE devs?

There is lot of rumors and gossips around Vanilla ArmA community about how closed PR is bla bla.

I will don't go in such details but our first priority is PvP and for that on public severs we need exactly the same environment for all players.
Isn't good just run PR shortcut and go to list of servers and you connect to anyone and is the same without any problems.

That is what PR mod team want to guarantied to our players.

Using other mods with PR will not be able on public servers.

But ... it will be possible to use third part mods but only on organized closed sessions.
So this could be some clan wars league or PR Tournament or organised events like for example Tactical Takeover on TG.
For such events server should be locked (no public access) and all support and responsibility are on those who organizing and hosting such event.

That means some TG event in the future could be running PR with ACRE and made missions on Lingor island for example using some third part factions. All support for that event will be provided from TG. In that case they need to provide you all support for this additional mods and secure how to run it on locked server.

Server must be locked to separate it from public servers to not create confusion among the PR community.

We was thinking about the ACRE or something similar but this will create to much confusion among players than will give benefit for public servers.
All in all for public use it is better without ACRE.

I think this is more than fair from us.
But for any problems don't address to PR.

I see where you're coming from about ACRE putting off new players but doesn't VON also put them off? Even I accidentally speak on the wrong channel sometimes (because there are so many channels to switch through) and I've been playing Arma2 for years. It's annoying to have to cycle between Command - Vehicle - Group - Global - Direct and Side channels. I wish there were only two or three as Side/Global and Command are rarely tolerated and Vehicle only works in Vehicles.

BIS just needs to make VON customizable!

Tell ya what, you try to load the USMC and the default russians from ARMA 2 and try to use the back pack system. Go ahead Ill wait............... OH didnt work did it........ There ya go. One less uninformed community member.

Please praise ACE in ACE threads, this ain't one of them. This is PR good job and Im glad they stuck to their Guns, pun intended thread. And man stop with the ACRE posts already.
