This is the reason why people play Arma, and now with the amazing 1.6 patch coming out that map is going to be beautiful to play on, i love the amount of vegetation on that map, no more being shot running down a mountain .

I also like the inspirational heli copter pad sitting on top of the mountain crop, reminds me of Vietcong when your defending the mountain

Brilliant stuff overall, just one request and that is can you make tunnels under the mountain for the insurgents? would make for some interesting stuff as far as CQB are concerned

This map reminds me of the film/documentary Restrepo, anyone watch that?

I've seen it, that's why there's a FOB on that mountain called Restrepo (on the map)

The map is based on Kunar and Korengal.

I wanted to bring this thread up to debate the issue of OPX buildings and Clafghan in general.

Do you think OPX Buildings are acceptable for the PR mod, should they be avoided or not? Does the PR team see the OPX buildings as the major problem?
What positives and negatives do you see with Clafghan as a possible PR map?

My opinion:

OPX buildings are okay from my basic understanding, I've played with them before.

Advantages:

- A near true representation of Korengal Valley with the epic open mountain spaces from the snow tipped mountains right down to the rivers and villages.
- The potential Insurgency missions the DEV's could construct from the cities to the mountains.
- Epic firefights over FOB Restrepo
- Sheer beauty, nice change from Vanilla.
- The trees aren't FPS heavy like the OA ones
- Russia vs Taliban like it was before the US.

Disadvantages:

- View distance cap might cut out a quarter of the valley due to sheer size (aesthetic issue)
- 500mb Map size
- OPX?
- Coding/work time needed
- Compatibility issues?

Avoided.

Yes.

Lots of positives. Negatives being the OPX buildings. Problems are they were made for A1, and require other addons to translate properly (I think anyway ... this is my understanding of it, I am sure one of the other Devs can give a better explanation though).

another nice map would be Hotzenplotz's Tasmania, lots of open ground although unlike Takistan where it's all mountains and valleys it has lots of rolling hills to provide cover and a good mix forested areas.

yes there ofc are meny super nice comunity made maps but as some one already tell PR will not use all these nice things for main server just to make sure every player have have same version/mods etc.

2 friends of mine dont like ARMA only coz of mods, always i ask them to join my made mission they need to download either maps/mods/units or check for correct updates for mods or maps or what ever.

Sure for HC ARMA lovers like me its not a problem I am using 6updeiter and always up to date with everything - but it is just me who plays or make misions in ARMA almost every day.

Anyway I dont understand dudes who will better buy new map pack as new game version, like COD series, then download cool stuf free of charge

IF the designer of CLFGHAN is a contributer, is it possible to produce a PR version of CLAFGHAN?? without OPX??
