Good read, cheers =)

Medkit is limited in nr's I learned last night. We coulden't get one for our squad. Advice squads not to have more than the one(s) granted by squads size in comparison to entire INF-team who also have a need for the kit.

Thank you for that guide and your effort in putting it together.

However I would like to have a read also on how the squad leading works by using the map and the squad menu for giving orders to my squad as I found no information in the PR Manual on this topic.

When I hold LeftAlt and click on the Map, it assigns a waypoint directly to my Squad on the Map.
But when I try to give a specific order to my Squad, e.g. 'Defend' or 'Observe', it is not assigned to a specific location on the map. I must be doing it wrong somehow.

Also it seems that the menu for giving orders to your squad only appears if i hold LeftAlt and click exactly at the position of a previously set squad-waypoint.

There is some advice with FOB.

Try to separate terms FO with FOB. FO is just FO without build anything around so could be easy destroy but less objects and good placement could hide FO so it is harder to spot. If you use it in that way call it FO hide it and use just as spawn point.
If you decide to build bunkers or other fortifications around you are make it FOB. So FOB is base now and because of size it is more easy to spot from enemy.

If you making FOB place it on some strategic position like for example some Hill top from where you can suppress enemy and support your troops from this over watch above objective. You have to dedicate one squad on it for defend and giving support to prevent enemy to come and destroy it easy. This squad will keep FOB operational securing spawn position near objectives and dominating over whole area.

So if you build FOB build it for be useful otherwise just build FO.

I found the solution for my Problem with setting Squad Orders and Spots on the map, so fyi and if you did not knew already:

You just need to click and hold the left mousebutton at the desired spot for the menus to appear, then the actions you choose from within the menus are related to the position you initially clicked on the map.

I have to disagree with all these small unit tactics, bounding over watch etc. I dont think its practical to expect this out of players. Imo it takes more time to coordinate maneuvers like this than they are worth. As a squad leader you have to trust that your team has experience enough to effectively move or at the very least follow your example while moving. Speed seems to be everything in prarma being able to quickly get into position and assault an objective means less time for the enemy to identify and organize against a threat and if your busy correcting formation or explaining a complex combat maneuver to your squad you are wasting valuable time and only lending the enemy more time to set up an effective defense at an objective or fob. Simple fix and flank maneuvers seem to work best, positioning your squad generally rather than specifically and allowing them focus on spotting and killing the enemy. I think there is just a bit to much focus on micromanagement right now than the bigger picture and I've seen a lot of sl's get squads killed trying to perform things that just aren't practical.

you sure about that?

everytime i use it it comes out with great sucess.

I dont really use any formations besides column and line.

I also give pretty basic orders.

"Alpha provide a base of fire while charlie and bravo flank."

Its pretty simple and everyone can do it so I dont know what your talking about.

I would have to also disagree with autonomousw.....

While I understand speed and violence of action while playing, sometimes I see all that speed in a form of a blob which can then not return fire effectively, and then when said blob dies, blames Arma and praises BF2, instead of their own worthless adherence to simple tactics like these.

Foxy has made some great posts here and in the TG forums, they are not difficult to replicate, nor are they time consuming. I have done these the last couple times I have squad lead and members of my squad, while they may die, do so on a less frequent basis than that of your tactics that I have seen employed.
