Default Are the maps in Project Reality actually real places?

The question is in the title.

Do the AAS maps in PR (Kashan Desert, Muttrah City, Qwai River, etc) actually exist in some form in real life?
Are they based off real places? (I know that all the insurgency maps take place in real locations.)

Or did the DEVs just make them from scratch?

Just curious.

Muttrah City is based on it's real life counterpart, which is a city in Oman.

I'm not sure if Kashan Desert is actually a place, but there is a place called Kashan in Iran.
Kashan - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Battle for Qinling is set in China, in the Qinling Mountains, which explains the large hills and etc

That's all I know

I'm pretty sure Jabal isn't, though that's not really a fair example with it being the oldest map in the mod.
