AFAIK the weight of the bolt is a bigger factor in the recoil of a weapon than the calibre of the round. It just so happens that larger calibre weapons tend to have heavier bolts too.

I don't know what formula you would use to figure out recoil, but I'm simply suggesting that the G3 recoil is lowered, only slightly though. The recoil is controllable but some opinions from a few people who have used the G3 in real life say that it doesn't have as large a kick back as on PR. The MEC rifle is the G3A3, correct me if I'm wrong.

Apart from that, the G3 is accurate and deadly. And If the suggestion is snubbed, I've no problem with it, it's just that I would, along with some others, would like it lowered slightly. Like not want.
I approve..

Is kickback reduced depending on stance? If so, I can barely notice it. If not, it should be added if it's not hard coded.
There is an annoying issue for people with high ping, which causes rubber-band recoil. You hold the mouse down, only to have the rifle instantaneously kick back as if you had not pulled the mouse down, then reduce again like as if you had pulled the mouse down. It is more annoying than the recoil itself.

Someone posted earlier that recoil doesn't kick upwards, but rather inwards? That seems a slight more real and makes more sense. Obviously there would be some upward kick, but more inward than up. I really don't know.

The G3 takes you having to use your mouse to compensate for muzzle climb. I agree that perhaps the climb is a tad much but I believe that this was implemented to give the game a little balance.

The G3 vs M16/4 is a toss up imo. It all depends on what sights up have and how close you are, perhaps even element of surprise. If you are clearing a building (i.e. an apartment building) I'll go ahead and take my red dot M16 or Medic M16. I think the iron sights work great and you can see plenty around you as you crawl in. Now in your everyday 100m+ firefights I'll take my G3 with the nice scoped sights. Great accuracy at those ranges and more powerful than the M16/M4.

What'd I'd like to see is an fully auto M16A3 make it's way to the PR universe. Slap a red dot on that puppy and it's over in close range.

Except that the only M16 in service with full auto is the M16A3, issued only to SEAL units and the like...

G3 is epic if u learn to control it, it.. uhm.. takes skill! :P Though, I rape G3 with scoped L85 in CQB by shooting from the hip or scoping in if its like 30+ meters. L85 = total rape! <33333333

147 gr. 7.62x51mm NATO will contain 3,352 Jules of energy at the muzzle.

The G3 should have at LEAST 85% more recoil than AR-15 platforms (Newton's third law gives us this conclusion). I don't have the skills to properly add variables previously mentioned, but the AR-15 is built to channel all recoil straight backwards into the shoulder, not affecting recoil, but theoretically eliminating muzzle climb. AFAIK, the G3A3 is not built upon such properties.
i will never understand why some of you sit on forums and make stuff up.

1. the g3 is a bit heavier than an ar rifle.
2. practice with the g3 makes the user control the rifle better.
3. the stock is pretty aligned with the barrel, so to me the energy should travel straight back.
