I also strongly disagree. I guess the most realistic thing would be if you'd be able to pick up an enemy kit, but the accuracy would decrease and other things like maybe the time to reload would increase (apart from the fact, that it should take some time to gear up). This would simulate that you don't really know the enemy weapon, but you sure as hell still can fire it (maybe the HAT would be excluded). But I guess this isn't possible due to BF2 limitations. And between not being able to pick up enemy kits at all and being able to use the enemy weapons like your own, I'd always go with option two, as it's more realistic and it also adds another aspect to gameplay (especially insurgency).

plus, if i couldnt pick up enemy sniper kits as an insurgent, the whole gamemode would become boring.

True at some poit we had 3 LMGs in the squad. However most people did not use it before, so they do not know where to stand how to deploy and what to do with it and do not get ueber kills.

you obviously have never used them in undeployed mode then...

i think the lmg's are just fabulous. BUT i find that normal rifles have no advantage in any field anymore. therefor i would really like to see the settle time of rifles decreased ALOT compared to the lmg's to simulate the agility and lightness of the rifles.

btw is there any way there could be a system of holding ones breath beeing implemented?

The funny thing is, except for the scope on top and the ability to shoot deployed standing, the LMG has been actually nerfed. It deployed faster and was more accurate in earlier versions. Who was a machine gunner before knows that.

I knew that if a squad was firing to pin me down or using an AR, then I could run from cover and have a reasonable chance of making it to where I was running due to the deviation.

Now, I find myself diving for every bit of cover I can find when an AR opens up on the street. Smoke is making a huge come back, and people are actually checking corners before they run out into the street.

Devs, please, don't listen to those who think they are overpowered, because they are perfect.
I agree =)

I think that scopes take away from what the AR is designed to do. Itstead of firing controlled bursts to supress the enemy, players are now using it as a rifle. I think the DEVs need to take off the scope and just use the ironsight zoom
