Considering I was getting 900m kills with the AR on archer... Yes IT is overpowered VS snipers at range...

AR vs Marksman/Sniper

Well, Obviously, the AR Would win against Sniper by PR Terms, b/c you have to set up your shot with the sniper, while you sit there for a second or two and your LMG is ready to unload.

Just making my statement.

that is a really crummy argument. As everyone knew the marksman was broken in .85 and that he could only shoot effectively like this: shoot-wait for a second- shoot- wait a second...
when the lmg fires more like this: Shoot continuously for a few seconds without any real loss in accuracy- Wait a second- another 3-5 second burst without any real loss in accuracy.

at 500m i was able to kill a 6 man squad with an LMG before they had time to find any kind of cover, and they had good spacing too, about 6-10 m between each other.

that pretty much explains why, they were in the open

but what i mean about the marksman is that usually the sniper got the first shot off because the sniper had a greater zoom.

Of course a sniper would loose if the MG saw him first or if they saw eachother at the same time, Snipers arent supposed to work well wile being fired upon

really if you could take out a scoper rifleman than you can take out the AR too
think about it, the rifleman has a shorter settle time and can probably head shot you if he saw you first

Who thinks that a M249 can be better than a sniper.. sorry, but you're wrong. You can't be a sniper with a M249.. reasons:

- Tracer Bullets
- Calls too many attention
- You can't kill someone with precision @ more than 600m

As a sniper you have to remain hidden. The sniper's job isn't just killing, you have to report intel. And you can't do this if you're not hidden. And if you don't report intel, sorry, but you're not a sniper.

And enemy machinegunners aren't impossible to handle.. you just gotta use your head to kill em.

Good positioning helps. Yesterday @ tactical gamer (asad khal) I killed like 8 machinegunners (from all the 20 that i killed).. and i didnt got shot even once in the whole map..

I agree I think the Sniper/Marksman when in capable hands are still superior in ranged engagements then a AR. When I run a squad I usually have my SDM take up position in a building or any other high vantage point to overlook the area 9/10 when the squad is being engaged by an AR the SDM easily picks them off even when they are eating the bullets with us on ground level, its just all about playing smart now when it comes to snipers and marksmen.

If your sniping your goal should be to pass recon to the team and maintaining stealth, kills should be out of self preservation as well as helping the advancing forces by eliminating key targets such as officers. As a sniper your are not a one man Army hell bent on cleaning up the battlefield but as a asset to the team as a whole.

Man I'd love to learn sniping, I can never seem to get my hands on a snippy-snap due to squad limitations or that all the kits have been given out. I don't know how to aim either, only got the game 3 days ago, I heard you have to aim a bit above so the bullet falls due to a long distance.

i thought alot about it and my solution to them being "too powerful" is not change them at all but chnage the amout of them on the field and only limit them to 5 man squads.

Why five man squads?

because those are the REAL infantry squads who REALLY need that kind of fire power. MGs in real life are among groups of people, not just 2 or 3 people. one out of 5 people will have a MG, thats about the limit of 6 MGs per team. Its more realistic than like 1 MG covers as 2 other people flank, with a limit to only 5 or 6 man squads it would be one MG and a rifle cover while 4 other people flank. Much more realistic that way

Also the medic kit should be limited to 4 man squads, but thats a diffrent topic
It should be 1 and 4, to 1 and 3 soldiers with an LMG.

The weapon is 'zeroed' @ 600m, what means that you have only to aim above the target when its farther than 600m. To shoot properly, you have to wait 8 seconds without moving (WASD) and only move the mouse smoothly. But these are only the basics about shooting, movimentation, positioning, tactics and lots of other stuffs you can only learn playing
