Default PR v0.86 Stress Test - General Thread

I was hoping that there would have been a small thread so that we could collaborate and speak of some details about what has been taking place and what may be on our minds. This thread was created with the concept of the "Rantings Thread" back before the release of the v0.85 build, except with a more appropriate label.

As for what's on my mind at the moment that would require such a thread as this...

My most significant issue is that I had come across one detail that may potentially be a bug. I had asked the players during an in-game session if what was occurring was intentional or not. No one could confirm or deny, so I am somewhat unsure.

1. U.S.M.C. (Noted on the map "Operation Archer 64" on the v.866 server)
After I had managed to request a Combat Engineer kit while playing as the U.S.M.C.. the first thing I did was head directly east towards the small bridge right outside the NATO Operations Base. After doing so, I had equipped my C4 and rigged the bridge for demolition.

After the bridge was destroyed, I checked to make sure that the shovel and wrench didn't work. And they didn't, which was intentional according to the changelog. However, I had brought a Logistics truck with me in an attempt to determine if this was the only method in which a bridge can be repaired at this point.

I had backed the truck up (practically on top of the small bridge) and deployed the repair station... I had no results. Needless to go into further details, I will explain that I had repeated this FOUR times. Each time I had deployed the repair station, I waited until the life-span timer of the repair station had caused it to self-destruct, then redeployed a new one in succession.

Nothing could fix the bridge at all... I hope this isn't intentional, as it would spell disaster on a map like Fools Road.

Anyways... Feel free to use this thread to speak about what's on your mind and/or thoughts you may have. Seems there really isn't any other thread to discuss the basic content or potential bugs you may have found. Might as well check first and ask, that is before you go and post a bug report on something that may be intended. That is... If you're in doubt and otherwise unsure if it's truly a bug or not.

As I understand it now, there is no way to fix any bridge that is destroyed. This could cause issues on maps like Jabal and Fools where they rely on a working bridge to get logistics forward.

... Ouch. That's some tough news.

It's going to be pretty hard on the map Kozelsk as well. If the bridge is destroyed, there seems to be no possible method to get Russian tanks across or possibly Logistic Trucks either. Everything on one side of the map is a geographical barrier and that bridge connects the two in a very critical manner.

Take the Blue Pill or take the Red Pill?

Would be realistic tho. Needs a squad to defend bridge's at all times Not good for gameplay reasons I guess.

There was another detail on my mind in relation to the new patch.

I heard some mixed explanations about the U.S.M.C. Officer Kit getting an M4 Carbine as opposed to the M16 Assault Rifle. Anyone able to elaborate why? I was surprised at first after I had requested my kit and I was handed the M4 and I was slightly befuddled.

^remember ironcomatose is a US Marine now.

Since this is a 'general thread' just wanna say that all the new sounds are awesome (chi gunz, brit gunz, a10, its all good apart from the lack of the close RPG firing noise) , the LMG dynamic is great (maybe needing balancing, but the dynamic of the deployed and undeployed mode feels very realistic) Some of the map changes are nice, e.g. Jabal. The new Chi APC actually looks pretty badass, its alot of great work for such a small patch The feel to the AK weapons feels much better now, they are now gunz rather than lazors!

But I do think that a couple of the maps could have been left alone and they would have been fine, e.g. qwai and muttrah, the AAV is a nice touch, but the cobra was a great asset since it requires 2 peeps to fly (teamwork required) and the boys on the ground could laser designate targets and stuff (rewarding teamwork with pwnage...) whereas the huey gunships are quite loner in comparison, runningaround hunting for stuff to kill with the associated increase in the risk of being wasted by a faceplant attack. LBs being removed was a good move however!

I wanna apologise as well, cuz I think the stress testers have failed the DEVs by not having the server at least almost 100% populated, even in the evening.

It'd help if we could get a decent ping

Server needs more admins, it would have been full all this afternoon, but it's stuck on training...which is useless...and there are no admins about.

The 2-man RP's/overruns etc seems to be OK. No major issue there from me, though I still don't like it.

LMGs though...fullautosniperlasers...something HAS to be done about that...

New sounds are great, and as far as I can tell, everything else is improved on in this version

Is it just me, or is the AT4 sight now much larger? Seems that I can see a lot more through it, even with half the screen black from the rest of it. +1 for that.

I'd say that the server needs to be in America so the Aussies etc can play on it

I'm actually not a huge fan of that tbh, I was in a sniper squad and they knew where we were cuz we had overrun their rally with 2 guys, we didn't know ofc, they came with gunz and knivez

needs recoil when not prone

yea! Jedimushroom showed me the new automatic sniper rifles yesterday and I thought that was a bug or something work in progress. He said it was meant to be this way.

Is that serious?

Yes is a little heavy the automatic sniper, needs more deviation for supress and not sniping. At the moment is the automatic sniper better we a marksman.
