Arrgh.
Drugkoala please keep your opinions about your time in Nato 2 and the PRT to yourself and off these forums.

Thankyou.

Seems there are still some details that dwell on my mind about the build. I still feel Qwai River should have left the U.S. Army forces with Transport Little Birds. If you take this into consideration:

U.S. Army Team:
1. None of the U.S. Army vehicles are amphibious, limiting the team to the land bridge if the two road bridges are destroyed.
2. The addition of Transport Little Birds would maintain mobility with little cost to the team.

Chinese Army Team:
1. The Chinese have APC's which are amphibious and can cross the river at any point.
2. The Chinese have the new WZ551A, which theoretically poses a particular threat to low-flying and lightly-armored helicopters.

I just find it slightly odd how the U.S. Transport Little Birds were removed, but at the same time the Chinese Army was given the WZ551A. The WZ551A is nothing of significant value by itself and has limitations because of it's design. But if the Transport Little Birds were allowed to remain, the purpose of the WZ551A would have a higher significance as it could be used for both transport and light Anti-Air Defense.

So currently at this time, the purpose of the WZ551A is limited. If the Transport Little Birds were still available on Qwai River, the WZ551A would have had held the greatest amount of weight and purpose. Particularly because there is no other map out there that could exercise the highlights of the WZ551A so well.

Additionally, the U.S. Army is lacking mobility as the Strykers are not amphibious. So if both bridges are blown and the land bridge is being exploited by the Chinese, it would prove the U.S. team to be at a disadvantage. If the Transport Little Birds were available, it would make up for the loss in the amphibious capability of the Stryker but still not prove to be overpowered. This is in consideration that the WZ551A would still be available to counter the Transport Little Bird's role.

Thus, in conclusion; reimplementing the Transport Little Birds would still maintain balanced gameplay and highlight the introduction of the WZ551A properly.
Basically, Little Birds (although fun to fly) are not a typical military vehicle, but rather a hollywood one. It would be like implementing a minigun as an infantry weapon because "its cool" and "hey it was in terminator/predator/etc!" so we got to have it in the mod!

You wont see many MH6 in the future of PR, they will be phased out. AH6 might be around for longer, it still acting as CAS in some areas and also as recon, kiowa might fulfill recon in future.

Qwai River loadouts - view distance is very small on this map and prevents realistic use of large assets (which includes stuff that flys at high speed)

Why are the MH6s on Muttrah if they are being phased out? I mean, wouldn't it be easier to put on say, 1 more huey, and take off the LBs?

afaik thats just because of the memories of Muttrah v1. Come on Rhino, get wid da program!

I still think 1 blackhawk would work find on Qwai, 10min respawn. There are plenty of places to land so its all good.

Fits a whole squad, can give support fire if absolutely necessary, is an awesome aircraft, is green, was da problem eh?

I'm starting to believe that MH6 on Muttrah is there to ensure that MEC actually stands a chance when USMC steps into city. Now that's what I call an asymmetrical balance!

Well... This is yet another reason why I believe that the Commander "Supply Drop" feature should return on a 30 to 45 minute basis.

I don't see the fleeting realism of parachute dropped supplies. A simulated supply drop from a transport aircraft seems entirely realistic to me. Especially now that bridges can be destroyed with no means of repair. It's something that I don't consider to be a wise decision. That is, not until an alternative means has been established to circumvent such a situation. Especially considering the fact of the limitation of the BF2 engine, who knows if a deployable bridge is even possible?

This is another reason why the Supply Drop feature should return. In certain maps, a team should theoretically be allowed to request a Supply Drop so the M.E.C. can have a chance to at least develop an F.O.B. on the other side of the map after the bridge has been blown.

Take the Blue Pill or take the Red Pill?
