why not removing it alltogether? who wants to be out there anyway? who goes there anyway? its unlimited when flying through it, or am i wrong? just send a warning,
"your out of map, return ASAP. (or you miss all the fun)"
whitout timer, or make the timer like 100, or 60.
this whould make jet fights easier, bigger scaled, and more free.

who fly out there anyway whit ecception of accident?
in bf2 its made to limit griefers or idiots who .. i dont know it anyway what they should do there or what benefit they gain.

This thing all things devours:
Birds, beasts, trees, flowers;
Gnaws iron, bites steel;
Grinds hard stones to meal;
Slays king, ruins town,
And beats high mountain down.

I wouldn't take away the timer...because then the map would just get even bigger...

I would make the timer like 30 seconds for jets.

There are two types of "out-of-bounds". The first is set by the mapper to create portions that are off limits to players. This set can have an adjusted timer and vehicle types can be excluded. The second type is when you're completely off the map to which I have no idea if you can adjust the properties of this. I suspect that you can't.

As I recall, some maps were meant to have a longer timer, and some do, in fact. But others, for some reason didnt take the longer time assigned to them and therefore the time is like... 5 seconds?

Trust me, we want it longer. I think the time it was actually "set" for was 30 seconds. Which, in all honesty is more than enough time to free fly, get your bearings, turn around, and make it back across the border with time to spare.

But, yeah, for whatever reason, some maps[and I forget WHY this happened] wouldnt take the time. But I think it was looked into, dont know what came of it though.

Theres also a level of hardcoded/bf2ness to it as I think in some way, there HAS to be a timer for out of bounds for all vehicles/players. How long this time can be extended to and altered tough, I dont know :\

Not a perfect answer, but its something... I know there was a response by...Fuzzhead some time ago in another thread related to the jets out of bounds timer... might be worth searching for
