Any CPU about 2Gigz in speed should be more than enough. I Used to play PR on a AMD 3700+ Just fine (2.1Gigz single core). Now I have a 5000+.

Most of the time when players say they are lagging. It is because of poor Operating system setup. Not because of the hardware they have. Apart from sound cards. Using them silly onboard sound cards is just bad bad bad. They just don't work in BF2. Get an x-Fi. And don't Over Clock stuff. Over Clock can lead to unstable systems. There is a reason that the factory set the rating of a product at what they have.

I Run every map smooth as silk. The only time I lag is when there is really is a server network problem.

I'd need 250 € budget just for a new PSU, CPU and a GeForce 8600 (buying the cheapest quality variants) and if I wanted to go further I could also use a better sound card and either a quality headset or speakers and that's just to reach most people's leetwtfbbqultrapwn play settings.

Oh and Waah - I already have my settings down, if I go lower I can't play PR anymore cos I can't see a thing properly.

You really think most people priroritize computers not everyone is graphic whores, or they certaintly dont have the money to do it. Believe it or not but I am sure some people here struggles to get the ends to meet economiqaly. So if you can buy a nice computer good for you but that dosent mean everybody else can. As people living in countries that struggles wouldnt a GPU and problibly a new PSU cost alot more (even if its not the price it would be the ratio between what you get in wages and the price) even if its the same thing?

Some people cant be arsed to buy new parts for hundreds of dollars they only wants to play a game with their buddies.

Most people playing with low setting plays on low setting because they have to not because they want to cheat.

I 100% agree in reality that would have been the biggest fault in history if you couldnt shoot with your cannon because it smoked to much Lal.

Not that I can talk about experience about the heavy smoke effect since I have to play on mid/low settings and therefore also cheats after ODdsodz statement.

I play at 4 or 8 AA, I don't remember, but jeeze, I hate it when someone throws a smoke grenade right on my position and my computer tried rendering all the little smoke particles all smooth like
