Default nade launcher broken?

Sorry if this has already been mentioned but ever since the .8 patch, i can never see any effect when I fire a nade round out of my rifle. Smoke grenades are fine and they still put up a cloud. At first I thought i had to wait for like 5 seconds after loading before i can fire it but I tried that and still nothing. Am I doing something wrong or is it broken?

They do not explode at close range, and they're not supposed to. They do work fine beyond ~50m, though.

If you don't wait a second or two after aiming before you fire they can go sailing high above where you intended as well. So that might be it.

On a side note, the other day I was lining up a shot at some inf about 200m away, when some enemy soldier runs around the corner near me about 30m or so away. So i turn, fire at him anyways, knowing my grenade probably won't explode, except he died when I fired and I got a kill for it. The only thing I can reason out is my unexploded grenade hit him and killed him.
Freaking awesome if that IS what happened.

Yeah that would be quite neat. Reminds me of CoD4, oh the joy of killing enemies with nade launcher, or throwing a flash at a low-health enemy

I think it's ridiculous, since when have grenades needed a minimum distance to arm it's self???
The UGL is now nearly useless, i can't use it in buildings, and i can't pop a smoke on the floor next to me, instead it "magics" away.....
Bring back .75 UGL.

Isnt this the same in real life than? I always thought this. Granted Ive only seen it in video games and movies.
