Default Question about the wonderful 3D Irons.

I love the ironsights. I love how the recoil throws the sights off and you have to wait until the gun settles down until you can fire again. Major win.

My question is this: How did you make the sights so perfect? Were the models that you made (the AT4, for example) so accurate in the first place, that all you had to do was move the model in front of the camera? Or did you have to go through each of the models and change the vertexes little bits at a time until they were absolutely perfect? Or did you just throw the sights on there, move the model in front of the camera in such a fashion that the front post is in the dead center of the screen, and make the bullet come from the center of the screen rather than the barrel of the gun?

Its a simple case of telling the game to use the unzoomed model (or the LOD0) which is the highest detail model, for the zoom model (or otherwise known as the LOD1). Hence the 3d irons are as good as how they are modelled in the first place, and all that's needed is to align the sight with the centre of the screen via animations.

oh, so thats why the stupid m249 carry handle is in the way.

I only think the scoped guns hop up weird when you fire. But its a big improvement and Im certainly in love with the 3d sights.

We definitely need to get the 249 carry handle out of the way. Either that, or make it MORE in the way.
