You've never experienced what a Commander can REALLY do... Hop on T&T when Vilhelm is CO, space in my squad for you whenver you need it just so I can show you the Epicness... Qinling, we drive in towards coal mine, request a merlin from CO, it's there straight away, Firebase is built. Down into coal mine, minor (pun intended) resistance, then APC plus 2 tanks, Support called in, 3 challengers back us up, threat eliminated. Tanks back up, I request constant CAS support from the Apache, that rolls in with AA to defend it, my squad is ordered to the foreward lines to spot enemy AA and so forth.... The list goes on and on Nothing is better than a group of Good SLs following orders from a good intelligent Commander, who then relay those orders to their soldiers and keep them in the loop, you feel part of something much much MUCH bigger and glorious than some n00bish AC-130, The game simply isnt big enough or designed for that kinda crap, Want big explosions Play COD4 and so forth

I think that the commander needs to be more mobile, too. I wouldn't go for commander staying 2 hours a round in that little box and just giving commands.
Nevertheless a good commander is vital for the squads, but I guess that there arent a lot of ppl that are willing to stay in that command-box for hours. |

Whish more would think like that. I enjoy it somewhat, its like a poor version of C&C I do it myself only every couple of times, but if everyone would do it each game would have a co.

But its more the players online are the key….Vilhelm would look a turkey on some of the servers I’ve played on, why well that’s real easy the squads don’t have the players that are prepared to work firstly within there own squad and overall with other squads. T&T server usually one of the better one’s, and I’ve even followed and joined in whole heartedly with the game even with dodgy orders from commanders on the T7T server for the sake of the game. The real force behind the game is the squads reacting to direction if they don’t you may as well leave the command alone and enjoy the fight. Adding a few more arrows to the commander bow would help keep me in that box as right now the commander has even less influence After all its you requesting, its your squad working the commander is just a bonus sure he can point out your next flag and point out enemy forces – well whoopee! if you take a hard look, over the servers you never see two Commanders that often and you have to ask why..when it works its fine in the odd round.

Just won on Mutta 2 because me and my squad mate took charge and showed the way, granted on a 50 player server it took its time but we won the whole map as we just ruled the map in our APC. Don’t know what was wrong with the other side but we won with no commander just a few of us typing to the whole team.
When you don’t have an enemy that knows his anti tank it was quite easy, a commander of use would have added something, not needed all the same………. |

Cain it doesn't do to talk about a girl behind her back you know For my 2pennys for the thread however I’ll say that a commander needs to know your plans guys, if your going to move to Coal Mine, Bi Ming, North Bunker, Santa’s Grotto or wherever he needs to know. That way he can think about what support you need and keep it in reserve or move it up with you reserve, or if he’s got a good sniper team/airsquad maybe even get you some recon and fire support. Yes I know it is the Co’s jobs to give out orders but do make sure to tell him any good ideas your may have because he is not on the ground and will not have such a good grip on your squads personal situation as you do.

The other team being crap is not really an example for not needing a Co imo.

Apc moving with the troops to capture all the flag points in such a way that can only be done when the whole team is working as a force demonstrated to me that who needs a Commander we certainly did not miss one or dare say require one on that round. Even with what I regarded a poor round by the enemy they could not handle our organised movement and would be amazed at the end there was never a commander there…. To tell the truth it was far better with us all talking and typing squad to squad than trying to tell a guy out of the way in his box, we did not have to wait for orders that would probably be too late to be effective. I truly feel the Commander position is simply a nice touch in the game and not as important….
