If I'm SL, then yes, I like having a CO rather than not having one. If the CO is at least tiny bit competent, it means I don't have to type contact reports out, and can ask for help by simply pressing a button and speaking. As an SL, it can be difficult to keep track of the situation on the entire map while at the same time minding your own objectives. With a CO, you can have someone else keep track of the whole picture for you, telling you where you're needed and telling others when you need them.

Yes, a commander makes it a lot easier for squad leaders by giving orders.

I prefer games where the commander STFU sometime and lets squadleaders get on with their own initiative, discussed beforehand with the commander to get past the plan=stupid/useless? test. When I'm commander I'll usually just sit and read a book half heartedly whilst passing on stuff to SL's, occasionally breaking off the book when I need to do some stuff with the map. It's much better for SL's to take initaitive than to have to have the CO hold their hand, esp when the CO is not in combat situation with the squad and does not know the situation first hand. The CO in PR is a facilitatr and suggester, NOT a supreme commander.

That is exactly what I do as a co, plus I forward spots etc.. Only time I micromanage is when I need to get crates and shovels to a certain point to build a firebase, or if I need to convince a tank it is best to stick with friendly infantery on fools road.

whats funny when i am commander i let the squads make a decision but if i think a squad needs help i'll send another squad to aid.

Vilhelm was CO on qinling last night, it was epic!

Holding coal mine calling in the enemy armour as it approached, tanks roll in to back us up ASAP

Then they drift off towards village, I ask for an Apache for overwatch, it's there, Crates wherever you needed them dropped by merlin (can you drop two with that thing btw?)

Was rather elegant

Only works if your commander talks and reacts to situations developing and people dont overdo it *OMG WERE DYING ITS ALL OVER NEED SUPPORT!!!!* when there's three enemies attacking

Or when the CO dosnt think Hmm that squads alone Ill reinforce them "errm CO there's nothing here, why has half the team turned up?"

and so forth

In short Commanders = Goodness

Of course i enjoy them more with commanders because with commanders things are much more organized and fast. As apposed to sitting on a obj for a minute to see what the other squad is doing

now thats a dream match, but i think there should be something in which the commander assigns 2 guys to man the attack helo so when you ask for air support the commander
can just say squad *** needs air support and they come, thats why i allways make a squad called airsupport,no matter if i have to use the blackhawk or the cobra,i rarely use littlebird or the other chopper s without guns for air support.

actually the commander can give information between squads quick and easily and make them work better, so yes i prefer to have a good commander who is worried for the situation of his team.
