I would suggest, perhaps, creating a few 'no-name' or less obvious transformers, so that you can get a bit of variety in the teams, as well as allowing more people to play in the game at once (especially if you make the map somewhat large, you want action to be more frequent, so more players can fix that). Not a need for 32 player teams, of course... but 10 a team would be pretty action-packed, I think.
If you can make a kit selection screen that either allows for more choices in spawning 'kits' or have a 'random' kit that spawns you as a random bot for the team outside of the main autobots/decepticons, it would give some variety to the teams. Reducing fall damage a lot is a good idea too; as a decepticon, I want to be able to dive as a jet and then transform before landing, to make a nice entrance. Also, there's a list of who's who in the Transformer movies wiki-pages, so you can see what they used for transformations.
