Default [help] Maya, Modelling, Rendering, Exporting to BF2..

Hey guys and gals,

I use maya 8.5. I have done for quite a while. Now then, I was wondering if any of you lot use it, if so I could do with a few pointers on a few things such as modelling techniques to make my models fit into the whole PR scene.

I also need to ask a few basic questions, I'm not a pro modelling or really that talented but I try and work hard and often get... okay results but I need to get more. The only way I feel I can do that is by asking advice.

For starters.... Poly's or Nurbs. Which do you use to model static / non-organic's and why.

How do you start? Usually I start with a plane and extrude edges and move from there taking the edges out and into position. How do you find the best way to model your items are?

I'm currently working on a model of a ship for PR. Now I've been using Poly's. It's been going pretty bad to be honest. Each time I restart it's getting better but should I move to Nurbs or stick with my polys..

Exporting to BF2, is it much different than the 3ds max tuts as I can pretty much follow them.

Secondly, anybody be willing to answer basic questions I have along the way in PM?

Default Re: halp? Maya, Modelling, Rendering, Exporting to BF2..

I'm not going to get a response to this and I've jsut found out why...

Dice and EA never released a patch to allow BF2 editor files to run with anything higher than maya 6.0.1 and I have 8.5... So, I'm switching to max. Can a mod please delete this topic. Thank you
