After reading through the "New Middle Eastern armies" thread and doing a throughout search for any similar proposal I decided to start this thread.
Iran is a military powerhouse in the Middle East. Counted with paramilitary forces its got the largest armed forces in the world. If any middle eastern nation deserves to get its own faction in PR rather than being part of the MEC it's Iran. The Iranian army would be interesting to design and create aswell as play as. Among American/Russian/German weapon systems they use locally produced vehicles and equipment that would add alot of variety to the game My question right now is if there is anyone that is interesting in contributing to this project or if you want to see it in PR at all? It won't replace the MEC or anything like that, just add more variety to the middle eastern theatre in PR. I myself can contribute by getting some friends (or friends and relatives of them) to record the farsi voices that are needed. So... Discuss this matter and come with your own suggestions on what they should use (should the G3 or KH2000 be the main rifle, for example) and so on. Good militaryphotos-links showcasing the equipment fo the Iranian Army: Islamic Republic of Iran Army - Military Photos Iranian Armed Forces media thread. - Military Photos http://www.militaryphotos.net/forums...ad.php?t=75926 |

Very very very interesting proposal ! I was taking a look at the photos and they use G3, some with scopes and some with bayonets.
The MEC army seens to be very similiar to them. To bad I dont have any modding skills, otherwise I would help. I hope that the devs come to be interested with this. |

Just what we needed, I love this idea.
Throw up a design doc Look up on their hardware. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Current...e_Iranian_Army and of course those fine threads you have shown of their army. |

I've registered on something called the "Iran Military Forums". Will ask them some general questions about the equipment before I make a design document. Like how widely used the Khaybar rifle and MG3 are and what grenade launcher the grenadier should be using (havn't found any pictures or info about the HK79 UGL in the Iranian army). At the moment my request havn't been approved so you are free to discuss this proposal and come with your own suggestions until I get some answers .
Btw, can someone identify this vehicle and the TOW-lookalike on top of it?

Thanks for making the thread, this is exactly the sort of productive discussion I wanted to see in mine. I'm interested in this idea and I hope I can help somehow.
I think the vehicle pictured above is a Safir jeep, the TOW lookalike is probably a Toophan (TOW copy) or Toophan 2 ("improvement" of the Toophan). |

Man, just noticed how many Baoynet G3s they're using, any chance of seeing Bayonet G3s in PR?
And I noticed that Iranians love bikes ... But they really love them xD Any info on the Zulfiqar-3? They said they started mass production of them lately, would their use in the near future be possibly represented in PR? Just curious. Hey i'm wondering, could the USI T-72 have more ERA bricks strapped on (judging by the picks) using the same method used for the USArmy BlackHawk? They seem to have much more bricks on than the current T-72.. Would it actually make the tank better with those ERA added? ![]() Also, what is this gun? Must be some sort of HMG or Recoilless Cannon I guess? Anybody know? ![]() It seems they use BTR-60s with a HMG on top rather than the usual Turret-Cannon PR has... Or is this a BTR-60? ![]() I think I also saw a picture of the SPG-9 Recoilless cannon, maybe another opportunity for Deltafart? Eh, but there was only one pic with two of them tho .. Might just be old hardware shown during the parade just for the heck of it. |

![]() MG3! Booyah! I'm liking this idea, even though I don't like the idea of being at war with Iran. |

Yeah, T-72 with ERA is needed. But the MBT should still be the Zulfiqar (locally produced badass-tank, seen on the first pics in the first link). T-72s could still be used alongside these, though, as they apparently still have alot of them.
The HMG seen on the second and third pic is an old Soviet classic; the DShK! Btw, the 'Cobra' attack heli the Iranis use is not exactly the same as the one we've learned to love through Vietnam-movies and games. It's a modified version called the Panha 2091. It's still very similar to the American original, so a slightly modified version of an existing model should be enough. |

As I posted in the MEC thread I think that the Middle Eastern factions should only be replaced by 3 factions.
United Arab League A millitary organization based on the League of Arab States Persian Islamic Alliance Equipment based on Iran and other Persian nations Middle Eastern Coalition Any countries in the middle east that have separate religions or political ideals from the other 2 factions. This will be the generic ME faction. EDIT: Since I realized that there is only one Persian nation the name for the second MEC replacement should be, Joint Islamic Federation. |
