Actually I’ve chosen the MRAP Cougar, because of its increasing popularity among different militaries around the world. The MRAP Cougar HE is in use by the U.S. Army, United States Marines, US Navy, British Military, and believe it or not Canada even has a few. This way when the vehicle is finished it’ll have the opportunity to fit into various different military factions already present or at work for PR. The possibility for the Cougar to see action with the Canadian Forces depends on the project manager for the Canadian Forces faction (either as a temporary vehicle or limited by number). As I said before, Canada has around 5 MRAP Cougars at present time; it may not be a lot, but PR is set in the future and I'm sure Canada will purchase a few more for better armor protection.

In this article you'll find that Canada has orderd a few JERRV(identical to the Cougar) and Buffalo type vehiels:

Does anyone know why there is such a demand for MRAPs rather than new APCs?

Hers a fact "The Cougar has become the de facto standard MRAP vehicle in the Iraqi theater to date, selected by the USA, Britain (Mastiff), and the Iraqi army (ILAV)."

The quote says it all; The HMMWV's seen and used by the USMC and the U.S. Army are now nearly obsolete in the battlefield and are quickly being replaced by MRAP type vehicles (Cougar HE). With PR being set sometime in the near future, you shouldn't expect to find unprotected HMMWV’s providing the dangerous tasks such as support and transpiration in such urban maps seen in PR. The Cougar is not just another U.S. toy; it’s also being used by the British Forces and in small numbers by the Canadian Forces (MRAP Nyalan RG-31 is more common for the Canadians). Also with the upcoming addition of the U.S. Army, this vehicle could be a placeholder for one of Armies assets.

Note; the Cougar can actually act as an APC in certain maps.
(MRAP) stands for “Mine Resistant Ambush Protected”, this means the vehicle is designed to protect its crew from many different kinds of hazards seen in today’s battlefield. It is designed to survive IED and ambushes. It’s “V” shaped hull is indented to deflect mine or IED blast away while keeping the main body intact. It can actually provide some kind of protection from RPG’s as well. None of these can be meet by the Up-Armored HMMWV’s. The Hmmvee at times can’t even properly stop a 7.62mm round at it's track, while the Cougar can withstand .50cal rounds from penetrating through its thick armor. This is why the Cougar can act much more than just a HMMWV replacement.

Hers a link explaining all the benefits of the MRAP vehicles:

PS. I'm planning to model a Stryker after this.

Who needs "agility" when you're a moving target?

The M1114 Up-Armored HMMWV has 190 horsepower, while the Cougar has 330 horsepower. The maximum speed of the HMMWV is 78mph, while the Cougar has a maximum speed of 65mph. Don't forget why they call this new HMMWV version "Up-Armored"; it's because they add armor kits to a regular unprotected Humvee in order for it to stop some small caliber ammunition. Guess what the added armor does? I'll answer: it takes away a large number of the 190 HP and slows the vehicle down, while the Cougar is designed to provide much superior protection while also being quite fast for a huge armored truck. Now let’s not turn this thread into a vehicle contest and start arguments, but I’ll provide as much information as I can to defend the role of the MRAP.

agility is not just speed silly :P , turning, and offroading... there's missions where the Humvee does far better performance then the cougar... New doesnt always have to be better even thought it adds more protection to the Troops against RPG attacks and IED attacks.. which is great.. You got to remember that the Humvee is almost 30 years old right ? it replaced the Willey Jeep.. and im pretty sure that the US military are in need of a new vehicle which has the aggility & strenght

Will I'm not sure about agility in terms of how maneuverable it is, but the Cougar is no longer being testing to enter service; it entered service with the U.S. Military back in 2004 and is set to replace all HMMWV's in Iraq (except for the new Iraqi Army ones).

First of it's kind; I haven't seen any 3D MRAP Cougar models made to this date. Of course it's a new machine, but still... I may be the first who's modeled one (except maybe the engineers at Force Protection Inc.)
Who knows, PR might be the first mod/game to adapt it.

PS. Thanks for the comments.

For the most part it's looking good, but the wheels are an absolute poly-killer at the moment. Be sure to cut down on those from the amount of loops as well as the multiple extrudes.
