The Project Reality Team has been conducting, during this month of November, a public beta test on a select number of community servers to test gameplay changes to the spawning mechanics of the mod. You can read more about it in the previous news post.
The feedback has been very constructive and we appreciate everybody taking the time to test it out and give their opinions. Now we want to try some additions to the previous changes. The changes that will remain the same are:
The new additions in v0.874C are:
As mentioned in the previous announcement, the primary goal is to see the average player's focus shift from Rally Point placement to Forward Outpost placement, something that the entire team will benefit from. But with these new additions, if your Squad Leader and one more soldier retreats away from the enemy after a harsh engagement, you can keep an extended presence in the area. If all fails, you will still have to depend on the placed Forward Outposts and your team's transportation, so be smart and keep those alive if you want to be successful. We really encourage everyone to give it a thoughtful try, and think about the overall team benefits. Also think of ways your gameplay will need to change for this to work, and how you can help others, especially with land transport. Always have a medic in your squad, and keep him alive, as he can keep your squad alive. Like before, the changes are server side, meaning you don't need anything installed to try them out, just join one of the following participating servers:
These servers will have the version "0.874C" in their server name during the test. We would like to encourage all our players to try and join these servers during the rest of November, and report their feedback in the appropriate forum areas. - The Project Reality Team |

It's a really good change, we should consider the 30s of the rally as a "Regroup", seeing it in that way, i STRONGLY recommend that RP's placement requires 3 SQ members (2 soldiers 1 SL).
Only if possible, also i recommend a "delay", i mean that the SL must keep pressed the "Place rally point" button by 5 or 10 seconds to place it, with the SQ members less than 10meters from him. |

is there going to be a way to turn the rally points off on our servers if we choose???

I'm interested to see how this is going to affect the game. I gather that the rally point will become more valuable as an asset to the squad leader, one which the squad leader must choose carefully when and where to utilize if he is to allow his squad the necessary time and location to respawn and reorganize safely.
The removal of the "drop-and-forget" infinite duration spawn location is a positive move while not removing the rally point entirely for the sake of realism. A limited duration will hopefully improve stealth, if only slightly, as the only time an enemy is going to come across a rally point is when a rather aggressive group of boy scouts is gathered around it. I wonder if it would work out well for soldiers to be able to restock on ammunition and request limited kits off of these new rally points. It would certainly allow a squad leader to have his squad stocked up on ammo, with the desired kit loadout before they moved out toward their objective. I seem to recall the ability to do both of these off of a rally point being present in a previous version, but I play more regularly now than I have in the past and don't seem to recall much of the old releases. |

Is there any limitation to how quickly you can place new rallies down? It sounds like as long as the squad is out of contact there can always be a spawn point for them, instead of having the squad try to rally up somewhere safe while they wait for the rally to become available again... or something like that.
