Well this is my first time attempting to build a pc but i had a lot of feed back on other forums, i just want some different opinions from different people.
I'm currently on an HP laptop which i bought last summer but my HD is almost full (5GB left) and my laptop is always at 65 degrees Celsius which is bad i assume. I used to bring my laptop into school to do work but people started robbing kids (girl got a Macbook Pro stolen right out of her bag) so here i am planning a new rig. CASE: Antec 900 - $99.99 MOBO: EVGA nForce 750i SLI FTW - $149.99 CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 - $199.99 GPU: EVGA 260Gtx Core 216 - $189.99 PSU: Corsair TX650W 650 Watt (12V@52a) - $104.99 HDD: Seagate Barracuda 500GB, 7200rpm, 16mb, SATA - $59.99 RAM: Corsair XMS2 (2x2GB) DDR2 1066 - $49.99 DVD: Already have a spare one Total: $854.93 I currently have a 17" CRT monitor and I know I should probably get an LCD but i'm on a tight budget. Should I buy a new LCD now and keep saving up for a new rig or should i buy the rig now and stick with a CRT until i can afford an LCD? Or should i not purchase either and wait until i have enough for both a rig and lcd? I got $170 for my birthday and I'm trying to find a summer job so i have something to work for. |

Why do they have to make the names so confusing with all their numbers and letters all bunched together into a meaningless title. Why not just:
Corsair poor PC Corsair good PC Corsair f**king awesome PC not Corsair XMS2 but of course we have to remember (2x2GB) and don't forgot DDR2, I mean WTF!? |

Looks good I'm in the same process as you, my old PC packed up GPU die
This is what I got so far with mine but the gerneral set up is the same as yours although I was thinking f getting DD3 TEAM 4GB Kit (2GB X 2) 1333 so you migh consider that as well it's only $92. Gigabyte MA770-US3 AMD AM3 Phenom II x4 945 Inno3D 896M GTX260+ 4GB DDR2 1066" Pioneer 216BK Antec 300" So good luck hope it works out |

And do you plan on running SLI? If not, a 550 Watt Corsair PSU should do the job too. If you do plan to run SLI, this PSU is just fine. And I'd get the HD 4890 rather then the GTX 260 216, since it's faster, yet it has the same price as the GTX 260 216 you chose. source And it's a great oc'er too. | |

The Q6600 is overpriced now, as well. It used to be $20+ cheaper than it is now. I would personally go with a phenom II 940, phenom II 720, or Q8400 depending on what you want. However, the phenom II 940 is faster than the equally priced Q8
