yeah, that one, just "twintech" (rather than "spark") edition.

I also had a look at the phenoms, which seem quite good (allthough I7 is said better, but wth....). Them coming up to the same price, it now all depends on the MoBo price. I will have a look around during the week and report back what I found. Obviously, all suggestions are welcome!

Thanks for the help,
Chargat.

Smile Re: Need MoBo + CPU advice please.

After some research, I have come to the conclusion that an I7 920 was my best bet (it is rated above AMD phenoms in most cases), and am considering either a "Gigabyte S1366 Intel X58 DDR3 ATX A L" or a "Gigabyte LGA1366 Intel X58 DDR3 ATX Audio Lan". The main factor now has to do with compatibility. I have started doing some research, but due to the poor amount of info I manage to squeeze out of my PC, I am not quite sure what to look for. Thus, my primary question is : Does anyone know of a good free program which rounds up your system's information?

My second question is has anyone here actually got either of these and can post comments on them?

Also, I will try to upload some pictures of my current hardware sometime tomorrow.

Many thanks for all the help so far,
Chargat.

Thanks, and concerning the RAM, thanks for the warning, was expecting it to run DDR2, just slower.

No unfortunately DDR2 and DDR3 are not compatible, DDR2 will not fit in a DDR3 slot.
