Default Cant select X-fi Audio settings

I have just exchanged my Asus xonar d2x for a Auzentech X-Fi Forte 7.1, I couldn't select "creative x-fi" or "ultra high" in the audio settings on either of the cards. Every time I did and then try to apply my new settings it would just freeze and stop responding, both of these cards are over £100 and I can't get the premium sound quality that I should be.

I have looked at countless forums, threads and posts but still not found the solution.

YOU GUYS ARE MY LAST HOPE, help please.

P.S Im using Vista64.

Welcome to the forums mate.

Have you checked that you are running it in game mode on your creative audio control panel?

It has to be on that otherwise it sometimes messes up if its on Entertainment or Audio Creation mode.

I Get the same problem, i am in game mode on m i can only get to high, and it wonnt let me selecct the xfi box although i do have an X-Fi card, the best it will let me do is enable eax on hardware with high.
I'd be curious if there was a fix for this as its been annoying me for months

I had that too fixed it today, just go to the audio settings tab in BF2, then Alt-tab and switch modes, from Game to entertainment and back to game-mode it worked for me.

Yes, their is a conflict sometimes with mics going into xFi's and that is a good fix for it, but for selecting ULtra and xFi I do believe its because your not using Game mode as I say....

I have X-fi, love the sound. But dang its problematic.

IDK why
Always randomly turning my mic boost off and such.

Also DONT switch modes while gaming or watching regular vids, it will ruin your card in time.
Make sure to switch the modes and than launch whatever it is your gonna do with it, movies, games whatever.

IF all else fails, or you're having other issues with your X-FI Soundcard, try a program called Muvixer.

If im in entertainment mode I cant select anything other than audio settings.

Switch to game mode and Bam, should be able to get whatever you want.

Also run a diagnostics, if you have one, for your speaker set up.

I Am only guessing here. But the cards you have told us about are not made by "Creative". They are made by 3th party's. In your case "Auzentech" and "ASUS". This means that you may not be able to use the "Creative X-Fi" settings. It stands to reason that you would need a "Creative X-Fi" to use the ingame "Creative" X-Fi settings.

But I am unsure on the matter as I have never had the cards you have told us about. So I could be wrong.

Auzentech is licesed to use Creative's X-FI chipset.

True. But that does not mean it should work with all Creative software. I Just don't know.
