Default Major problem

My game freezes for 10-15 seconds. Random times, no pattern. Doesn't crash, just freezes.

1. Ran through all settings imaginable, checked hardware, runs fine on wifes computer.

2. Replaced cables to my computer, switched ports on router.

3. Uninstalled, re-installed, same problem.

Played PR since .4 never had a problem till .856 and this is driving me nuts. I can't fly aircraft without freezing and crashing (not the game just the aircraft).

System info:
EVGA 780i SLI mobo
2x EVGA 285's (185.85 driver)
Q6600 2.4g CPU (overclocked to 3.6g)
16gb PC6400 800mhz RAM
WD 300gb Velociraptor
Coolermaster 1100w PSU
Vista Ultimate 64bit

ADVISE?

using the patched bf2.exe ?
You'll probably need run it twice with 16gb of RAM,just kidding. I am jealous.

btw
I am getting a lot of lag on the desktop with Folding at home running on the GPU (8800gt).
I thought it was win7 but maybe it's the NV's 185.85 drivers.

I don't use patched exe files for BF2. This problem seems more like my internet connection freezing randomly, but that cant be it, my wifes comp is on same router and connection, and it runs the game fine.

And 16gb of RAM is awsome, especially with Photoshop/Dreamweaver and all my video editing software. I have 2gb of just font and when it loaded with only 4gb RAM it took about 20 sec, now it takes about 3.

download and replace the bf2.exe to allow over 2gb of RAM to the (bf2.exe) system
process.

Q: I am getting a lot of lag on levels.

A: The most common cause of this is that you are running out of memory. BF2 was a memory intensive game, and PR only increases on that.

First, you can try lowering your video settings, in particular, Textures. If that doesn't help or fix your issue, you can try increasing your virtual memory. Information on how to do this is located in the Installation Guide wiki. See HERE.

If that STILL doesn't work, you can try patching your bf2.exe to allow it to use more than 2GB of memory. Firstly, you want to backup your current bf2.exe in your /Battlefield 2/ folder. To do this, simply rename it from bf2.exe to bf2.exe.original. You should back it up incase you have any issues in the future. Now you need to download the patched bf2.exe. This can be found in THIS zip file (THIS one if your using the EA Downloader version) (If you get a virus warning, ignore it, just a false positive). Simply extract it next to bf2.exe.original, and your good to go. Thanks to R.J.Travis for the original method.
