I tried uninstalling and reinstalling countless times now, without the wizard, or changing settings. I looked for and removed all traces of it from my hard drive, but it still crashes when I try to connect to any server. It used to say that the certificate failed validation, before it crashed and if I wanted to proceed anyways, if that helps

No the certificate unvalid thing is just because the server autogenerates the certificate for you and it isn't validated by a third party. You have to accept the certificate, because if you don't then you wont be able to join the encrypted stream.
Crashing when you try to join a server is a bit weird, it almost suggests there might be a conflict with your audio hardware. Have you made sure that it has permissions across your firewall ? (for incoming/outgoing UDP and TCP packets.) Try switching it into TCP mode and see if it works. (configsettings-->network tab, tick ' Use TCP ' ) EDIT: Apparently some of the problems with mumble crashing or not working properly when you set Push To Talk, can be caused by having a non standard keyboard or non standard layout. |

Yes both OSs were x64.
I got it to work on both, but i had to do as i said. One setting at a time. It seemed trying to do settings from two different tabs caused the app to crash. i.e do one setting change, save & close, rise and repeat. (on a side note: when it did crash it affected my mouse movement, making my mouse very 'lazy', like there was massive lag between input &mouse reaction.) (i have a MS keyboard & a razor mouse).. standard layout & setup.. |

Does this happen with the vanilla 1.1.8 mumble version as well ? I know that other people on mumble forums have reported problems with mumble and vista64 , similar things such as not being able to set force center.

That will have been 1.1.7 I think ... cant remember for sure but I think 1.1.8 was march release ?
Ok ... to help you clear your problem up , I think it might be to do with traces of one database or registry entry being left around. If you uninstall ALL mumble stuff and you do the following steps ... 1. Look in your program files folder or wherever you install stuff too and see if there is a directory named \Mumble or \Mumble(PR Edition), if there is ... look inside, tell me what the contents are and then delete them. 2. Look in your (or equivalent) Documents and Settings/$user/ApplicationData/ ... and look for any folder called Mumble or Mumble(PR Edition) , same thing ... tell me whats inside and delete it. (and here $user means AllUsers or DefaultUser or PresentUser ... look in all of them) 3. Look in your registry for any mumble entries ... although this hopefully shouldn't be a problem. Look in both (the equivalent of) HKEY_CURRENT_USER and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE , for any folders named Mumble or Mumble(PR Edition) .... delete them. Now install PR mumble. |

Cheers mate, but I don't think an old database could be the source of my most recent encounter of this crash problem, (which i got around, by the way.)
When i encountered 'the crash setting up SL Radio' I/it was on a newly formatted HD, new OS fresh install & new 0.4 beta mumble. So no old data could have been carried across, even in the reg. As i said earlier, changing one setting at a time, closing mumble and repeating seemed to help. If i made unsaved changes prior to setting up SL Radio, it always crashed the app. But this is all very circumspect info, but that is how i got around this crash on both 0.3 mumble on Vista x64 & Win7 x64 on 0.4 mumble. So i have the SL shortcut working fine now, just took some kid gloves to avoid the crash. |

Has anyone figured out what causes the bug where mumble crashes when joining a server? I have tried everything in this thread and non of it worked.

Isn't this a thread for "Mumble crashing when setting Squad leader shortcut" and not one for "Mumble crashing when trying to join a server?"
I think it would help if for a separate problem, you create a separate forum topic. Anyways, I too am having the Squad Leader Shortcut crash problem (or the force center position shortcut). Can't really test it out right now, however, since we're stuck in limbo between PR Mumble Beta 0.5 and the new Official PR Mumble server. |
