Default ATI 4870x2 weird problem

Hi im new and its my first post but i need some help

here's my specs

Asus rampage II extreme X58 motherboard
CPU i7 920 watercooled at 37c @ 4gig
4gig ddr3 1800mhz OCZ Platinum
Saphire HD 4870x2 graphics card
tagan ITZ 1300Watt PSU

Ive done two clean installs of vista ultimate now to try and resolve this issue
and at the same time have all the latest bios chipset graphics u name it drivers.

I would also like to mention this didnt happen with an old 8800gtx in this setup
until i bought the new card, now the weird thing is i can play normal bf2 on full settings
full antiailsing and it realy is a superb fast rig with all the eye candy at a fantastic frame rate.

So my problem is whenever i run project reality it loads up real fast but as soon as the spawn screen come on the most horrific lag kicks in and on going in game i cannot move
ive typed in the console renderer.drawfps 1 and it shows a drop down to 12 - 15 fps then a quick blip back up to 100 fps then lag the most horrible framerates u can imagine.

As i said it does not do this in normal BF2 and ive done 2 full reinstalls of vista and bf2 and PR fully patched to 1.41 and punkbuster also patched, the game also crashes out with the vista ding sound then a memory dll error in the background, so to try fix this on both ocasions ive downloaded the memory exe fix as sugested in this forum and mounted a dvd image and tried my orignal dvd to no joy.

I realy am at a wits end with this as it never crashes with the memm errors in normal BF2
nor does it drop to 15fps it runs flawlesy at over 120fps on full settings in normal Bf2 so maybe the DEVs can shed some light on this and or one of you guys i apologise for the lengthy post but ive tried to include as much detail as possible

Thanks in advance

Try disabling the cards internal crossfire, I've heard that works but as I don't own a 4870X2 I cannot confirm this.

EDIT: Wow, I'm amazed the forum name "1337" wasn't taken.

Howd you get 4 Gigs of Ram, I thought the Core i7 was triple channel ram, so 3Gb, or 6Gb ?

you dont have to use triple ram it supports single dual and triple channel

it has configurations for all im using 2 sticks of 2gig in dual channel mode u get faster timing in dual rather than tri and the tri is trickier to overclcok the qaud with

also i7 ddr3 is a myth you can use any ddr 3 not just specific tri channel sets just as long as its on the qual vendor list

i cant understand it though it scores 17k in 3dvantage and as said before can run bf2 everything full its just something to do with PR that causing a mem error or the card to drop down to a stupid 15fps then crash to desktop with memm eror yet i can play all day in bf2 no probs

I'm petty close to those specs, except mine is rampage formula with a water cooled north bridge as well as the card is cooled and the hard drives, too. With an e8400 at 4.03 Ghz.

I had to put mine aside, I RMA'd the card.

When I get it back and up and running in 2-3 weeks, i will try to help out.

Reason why I rma'd it, i was excited 2 months ago and moved my watercooled twin 3870's out of the way, and I dropped one drop by accident.

Blew everything except ram.
So I got a free motherboard, processor, 2 3870 because they alrready were retarded, x-fi fatality pro, and now this card.

The water spilled near where the power supply hit the motherboard. I cleaned it up with baking-soda and water with a toothbrush after I took the small battery out.

I feel like I got away with murder, after getting all that replaced for just one way shipping.

So, like I said, when it comes back and I pt it in, I might be able to help.

Next time, I will drain the water first. Duh.

Oh yeah, nice username.

i used to lag before i applied the memory fix for vista -> http://www.realitymod.com/forum/f27-...bit-users.html

going from Asus ATI drivers to ATis own fixed some graphical bugs as well for me

thanks its still ongoing, i did have this set in the shortcut = +widescreen 1 +szx 1680 +szy 1050
as thats what my monitor handles so i removed this and set stuff a little lower i can play a round now but CTD either in the round or on map change so ive give up being a sqaud leader for now as its not fair to leave a sqaud by CTD all the time.

What totaly annoys me the most is none of this happend with a good old 8800gtx lol its all only started since Adding the 4870x2 to my system, im going to give this a try = BCDEDIT /set increaseuserva 3072

But do i have to do this " BCDEDIT /set increaseuserva 3072 " every time i boot the PC or once ive done this does it stay ?

take a look at the last point here:

http://www.realitymod.com/forum/f27-...s-v0-85-a.html

i also have an 4870, and i was getting laggage a lot, if i tried to make a screenshot it crashed, because of a buffer overflow, so in that last point there's a patch for BF2 to use more thatn 3gigs of ram
