Build Log: First Custom Build (Image Heavy)

Right, let's kick this off with the specification:

Asus P5Q Deluxe
Intel Q6700
Corsair Dominator 1066Mhz DDR2

Antec 900-2 Case

Samsung SH-220 (Or something) Optical Drive
Samsing Spinpoint F1 1TB
Sansung Spinpoint F1 320GB
Point Of View GTX 280

Thermalright Ultra 120 eXtreme CPU Cooler

Scythe S-Flex 1600RPM Fan
Corsair TX 650W PSU
Logitech G15

Logitech G5
Samsung T240 24" Widescreen Monitor

(If it's in Bold, it has arrived and I have pictures )

Right, OCUK have messed up my order a few times, so it should be expected (for the 4th time) this Wednesday, so expect the full building to commence then. All the other stuff was bought from Scan and Amazon.

(Sorry for bad pictures, my phone has a pretty crap camera that only works well in good daylight.)

The new Antec 900-2 Case, it's basically the 900 with some aesthetic changes and dust filters.

I also found out that the box could house another thing, me! (Note the feet poking out of the bottom.)

The motherboard that this build will be based around; the Asus P5Q Deluxe, plus the Logitech G5 mouse.

The Mobo itself (it hasn't come out of the anti-static bag yet.)

This is the Thermalright Ultra 120 eXtreme (TRUE) CPU cooler, this should allow me to push the Q6700 near the 3.6Ghz mark with ease, providing I get a good chip.

That's all for now, the next lot of pics should include the comp fully built and expect those Wednesday/Thursday.

Quite a heatsink you've got there

-

Ive got an Artic Pro 7 cooler, and even so its got a fan - its as good as silent ( though Ive got an Antec Sonata case which has pretty good sound insulation )

Nosiest fan by far is my case fan - on low settings its silent, but when I'm gaming I need to turn it up to get good airflow, and then its pretty noisy, despite being good quality and large diameter.

btw - I saw a cool plugin for winamp the other day that shows up media details on the Logitech G15

Awesome, I'll have to check out that plug-in, aswell as WinAmp, always used iTunes.

I've got a 120mm Fan to strap to the heatsink, noise isn't much of an issue for me due to wearing headphones.

Nice, it was slightly out of my budget, plus Thermalright warn of using it on vertical systems due to the mass weight of it!

The G5 is in use on my old (well, current) comp, and it's made a lovely difference in games already!

Lol, no wonder they warned for it. The damn thing weighs 1.9 kilo's. I wouldn't be suprised if your mobo couldn't handle it when having your case vertically. :P
