I am having the same problem as well. I get into a game and I will be playing anywhere from 20-60 min...then BAM. "Connection to the server lost". I tried everything.
1. uninstalled and reinstalled BF2/PR. 2. Changed Modems. 3. Uninstalled router. 4. Re-Formatted my computer. 5. Contacted EA. 6. Allowed ALL necessary UDP/TCP ports 7. Contacted EA again. 8. Called ISP 9. Contacted EA once again...left a hate message. This seems to happen to all EA games that I have. BF2 and 2142. I have noticed my ping fluctuating from 105 to 187... Here is the link that I made in the Tactical Gamer forums...maybe there is something there you can use. Lost Connection to the server. - Tactical Gamer |

yeah i looked at the post....and found some interesting things that could be the problem. but i believe its something dealing with PR and BF2 and EA servers....cuz PR is still unstable in my opinion. I tired lowering my sound and turning off EAX. in the sound. i also made a new account. I got a connection issue after ive done this. I tried one last thing befor i unistall PR and all my BF2 shit. Something doing with hitting ESC button when u get the Connection Error. Seemed to work. Cuz after that i got no other connection problem. But ill keep you all updated about this serious BS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I WISH PR TECH AND CODERS OR WHOEVER CAN....FIGURE THIS BUG OUT!!! DO SOME TEST WITHOUT US UNSTALLING AND DEALING WITH THESE PROBLEMS!!!!!!! if this continues i believe people who have this problem start spamming this problem...shoot some emails towards EA and PR. to get them to realize how bad this is!!!! |

This is still happening.
I was told that if I go to my task manager when in game and turn off one of my CPU's, that this would do the trick. But it doesn't....it didn't make any sense anyway considering that it has NOTHING to do with the internet connection. God dammit this is pissing me off! |

You guys might wanna consider forwarding ports on your router, you can find out how here:
PortForward.com - Free Help Setting up Your Router or Firewall port forwarding should help if you have programs causing problems with connections like an AV or Firewall (which you should also consider turning off and trying a server and see if there is any change also) Some times viruses and spyware can also be causes of bad or limited connections as well. Your computer may pass a connectivity and speed test but if your getting packet loss you will notice horrible performance on a server since the server is checking every detail and a sign of loss packets can lead to a disconnect to prevent exploits. Also if you are using wireless connections make sure there is no interference between such as phones or even metallic objects that can cause problems, make sure that your using an unused channel so that your neighbors connections don't interfere with others and all other wireless devices in the house are not causing interference. Sorry to hear that you guys are upset with the slow responses, hope my info helps you all out. |

Have you tried eliminating all background processes even the AV and firewall? Also like I said check to make sure nothing is interfering with the signal, any sign of packet loss no matter how small will cause BF2 to throw a fit, if you have to try switching channels.
Some times the problem can be attributed to Punk Buster too. Even if you updated it or even reinstalled it, it doesn't guarantee to fix the problem. I had a problem with a PnkBstrB service running in the background on start-up and it was stopping PnkBstrA from starting the actually correct PnkBstrB service causing havoc and numerous kicks and drops from servers even FPS drops since it was suppose to be started by PnkBstrA not on windows start-up. You can disable this by going into your services in the control panel and disabling PnkBstrB service. |
